Less cost for health insurance as a separate cost, but their income is taxed far more than here. I'm not saying that a huge number of people couldn't afford the higher taxes, especially since the US has more millionaires and billionaires than any other country I know of.
I believe it has been shown that the net cost, inclusive of taxes/health insurance premiums etc that the total cost of health care in such systems still comes out cheaper than in the US. Our system isn't very efficient. Then again a lot of US folks are fattier and unhealthier....

Yeah, that billionaire class. Let's blame them for everything. Less than 1200 people total in the US, not counting spouses. And some large fraction of that total are liberals who support progressive causes. Of course there are guys like Larry Ellison, who throws fund-raising dinners for Trump and owns a Hawaiian island, and the Koch family, but there's also Bezos, who owns the left-leaning Washington Post, Laurene Jobs (Steve's widow), who is an investor in The Atlantic, and Tom Steyer, the hedge fund guy who's a liberal environmentalist and pro-union. I'm just not seeing the huge threat of the "billionaire class". Yeah, the hedge fund guys and real estate developers are legally gaming the federal tax system, but that's our fault too, because 99 out of 100 people (at least) don't know what carried interest is, or how the stimulus bill eliminated limits on real estate losses that can be used to offset income taxes. We continue to elect the congressmen who write that crap into the tax laws.

I wonder how many millionaires the billionaires have made just by people working in their companies or investing in their companies? How many Apple and Microsoft millionaires are there? For just high-tech companies as a group it's got to be in the hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions. I see many billionaires as the greatest wealth creation machines in human history. I know, that's heresy. They're all evil and they own us.
i know you don't see the threat, you "got yours" ,"everybody for himself"..ect ect.. .. but i do.. so how about we quit goin' round and round...

Its unfortunate that Trump is such a sore loser. He f?cked up handling COVID and will be remembered for that but that memory will fade into the background. He will be remembered as the only president to spread baseless lies and accusations of voter fraud in a losing battle to keep power. I seriously hope he does not incite a civil war and divide the country even further. Trump and Mike Pompeo should be judged as clinically incompetant to run a country. Im sorry that your country has to be dragged through this poop.

i don't make deals with "internet dude..".. and it ain't hate speech , pretty obvious to me anyway, i have an idea ,, why don't you take a poll and see how many billionaires give a f*** about what i think .. let's see how it goes ..
Well, let's see. You're not targeting individuals, you're targeting a group. You're making baseless accusations about what amount to conspiracies. You're stating that the damage the group does is obvious, when actually you've stated no facts whatsoever. You've asserted that this group has too much power, and more than insinuated that we should take this power away from them. Where have we heard this nonsense before? Hmmm.

And I can't speak for any billionaires, but I can't say I'm impressed by the efficacy of your argument. There's nothing there but you saying so.

I see you've edited your response, now directing the hate at me. I never said said anything like what you're putting in quotes, though I am a supporter of the notion of personal responsibility. I can see you have a lot of resentment against anyone who doesn't perceive themselves as a victim. If you move to Vermont or the Bronx you can be represented by people who feel the same way you do.

Im sorry Irv that you have to endure this BS. Its gotta be tough to take. I heard but cannot substantiate that republicans are the majority of the COVID infected..becuause Trump continues to ignore the dangers of this disease. Look at theTrump rally that happened today. If he cared, he would of squashed it. I hope that Trump, Pence, and Pompeo gets tossed out of the party.

And did you notice in the photos, lots of people milling about in crowded areas with no masks. We're probably looking at another super-spreading event. Trump seems to breed them in DC.

Where I live people are still organizing pro-Trump rallies, and having these "parades" where they drive around with Trump flags and US flags while hanging out of their windows shouting and honking their horns. I just saw one today from my wife's eighth-floor office. No novelist could make this stuff up.

Well they are generally honkies :) Even tho am largely in drumph territory haven't seen any parading or the truck flag thing (but that's normal for the most part......the one pickup that used to fly rebel flags seems to have wrecked his truck a while ago).

Our system is a joke. I pay $298/month for insurance for my wife and I for a HDHP with HSA. My company pays 75% of the premium, so that comes out to $1192 a month total. Then on top of that, we have a $4,000 deductible. So, in one year, the total cost to my employer and myself before the insurance company pays a dime is $18,304. There's a more expensive plan ($510/month my cost, so $2040/ month total) with a lower deductible($1000), but it has a higher total cost for the year (if you get to the max out of pocket) and less out of network coverage.
