Hi All,

I purchased a 2.35:1 Focupix grey screen from HTDepot.com March 30, 2010 and have had nothing but broken promises (and a dead end to "Your screen is coming from china but it may be awhile before it gets here" Would you like a white one we have those) No. I ordered grey for the Panasonic Light Canon lcd projector I have.(At the time AX-100U)

It all started with a very bad and crooked stitching problem which was visible on the screen surface going around the screen which should have met with the edge or gone behind the edge of the frame.http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/attachments/manufactured-screens/33846d1323361399-me-writing-wall-htdepot-com-updated-pics-stiching-around-edge-right-2.jpg
They have sent 6 vinyl materials 1 each time I had a problem. The first 2 replacements soon after I first got the screen that were made of an even different material then the one described further down. They are very smooth like, say like underground pond liner but really thin. It had streaks throughout the material like stretch marks when pulling the materiel to far. Each location you sat in the HT revealed a new set of marks and the others disappeared.

Then they changed the manufacturing of screen material. They sent me one that fit but it had as you can see in the photo's tube lines going vertically across the screen (photos below) which is very distracting when watching something with a bright image. I asked them to please take the time to look at the screen material, before they sent it out, for these marks. They say each time that they rolled it out and inspected the screen for any problem. They also sent me 2 the wrong size 1 too big, 1 to small each with the same problem. At one time during a call we talked about stretching the screen enough to stretch it out as it these were wrinkles in the screen? LOL The one that needed to stretch out in the next few days. That was a no go. (photo below).

These marks are something done in the manufacturing of the screen and if there is a coating applied to the screen on the front surface then it wasn't applied heavy enough to cover this imperfection. So I guess I could paint it but that kinda defeats the purpose now doesn't it? "Please send us some more info and pics in email and let us look at it and we will get back to you." I've sent it to 4 different email addresses.

Now I'm not wanting to come off saying it's not a nice image (it could be) but with these lines showing themselves it's gonna drive anyone nuts. Another thing is it's not me being too picky in the image quality as visitors that come over see it also without me pointing out the problem. I talked with them awhile back and they say there is an even newer material that won't ever fit my now older screen frame.

Steve the owner won't answer my call or come on the phone and talk to me about this problem. I asked them to replace the whole screen since it's been this long of my time and movie watching compromised with this screen they responded saying we will have to ask Steve. I've been way past patient with this company. Steve offered thru his person on the phone we can sell you another screen at a 50% off discount of the regular price. WTH? Now your digging into my pocket for more money? Are you kidding me? Oh wait or he will give me $50 back on your first screen you purchased. Whats going on here? My long time dealing with this gets me paying them more money or getting me a small amount back on a not fully functional NEW screen I purchased from them? I called today just to ask what's going on with my order? I get a new person to talk to and asked for Michael (He has off today) then asked for Steve. Hang on a sec can I tell him who's calling? Chris....He went off and came back in very fast asking is this Chris Young? I said yes. Oh well Steve is out today and Michael would be calling me on Monday. ( I know Steve was there once again great customer service there)

I guess all and all I've been taken on this product, by this company, and I'm not seeing any resolution to my problem that would be handled by this company. Be warned as I clicked here on an Ad to find them and yes I'm sure others have had great success with their screens they got from HTDepot.com but for me. Nope. Looks like I gotta save as an acoustical screen is where I want to go now. There is so much more to this story, with in each phone call and each time getting a new screen sent to me with the same and a new story as to why I don't have a clean mark free grey screen. The story would be very long and this one here is to much... Thank you for your time reading. I hope this helps you in thinking twice on your next screen purchase. I know my next one will be much better.

I can't believe they fooled with you long enough to send 6 screens. That means they lost money like 5 times over on you. I can see your frustration and can understand your dissatisfaction but those screens are $200 new including frame.

Wise man once said
"If it sounds to good to be true, It is."
and
"You get what you pay for"

Sorry you have had such a hard time. Just chalk it up as a learning experience.

Hi abjonesiii

Thanks for reading and pointing out that they sent me 6 screens. That was 6 screen material(Fabrics) not 6 whole screens with frame. :) Big difference in shipping and cost as well. Now that being said they assured me that there manufacture would replace the cost to them. I asked believe me. Either way not my problem. Also I asked them to carefully look at the screen before sending them out for any defects. Especially the main problem with the tube lines. Yeah know, I can't say they did or didn't each time. So the writing is on the wall on this. They don't really take care of every customer every time and go above a beyond for some of the simplest things.

The tube thing is weird. I've never seen that before. Internet shopping has some disadvantages. Not being able to see a man face to face can be a problem. Probably more than most of us have at some point been burned by buying something online from a store we will never visit. Sorry it happened to you.

For what it is worth I use a Da-Lite fixed framed screen in Da-Mat finish (1.1 gain) and am very pleased with it. When I bought it new 5 years ago i think it was $700. It is no comparison to a $2k Stewart but Da-Lite is a good bang for your buck company. My 2 cents.

Best of luck in the future.
