I think you're Audioctted :D !

Just make sure that Hi Fi money isn't taking place of the RRSP. You want to be able to afford this pointless awesome crap when you're 75 too :D
I am definitely audioctted. Don't worry, the retirement plan is all good. :D

The only reason I got this was because the old blu-ray player was starting to freak out on me and now that the new oppo's are coming out guys are unloading their "old" ones. So I thought what the heck.

The guy I bought this from thought this thing was a good idea and included it with the purchase. I don't really care either way since his asking price was still cheaper than the others I had seen. I will not be using this when I finally clear a space in the entertainment stand and start hooking this thing up. It wouldn't fit anyways.

Outstanding!

I mean...you suck. :p

How does the center sound to you? Did Dennis get it all fixed up?

... front ported too. Nice. You've done well for yourself and that's actually more impressive than the center. When ADTG sells his Phil 3s you can use them for surrounds. :D

Before Dennis fixed it

After Dennis fixed it

What happened was, the crossover was made for the rear ported center channel. Apparently the front ported version needs a different crossover. Dennis ran a bunch of tests and figured out what was wrong, then made built up a new crossover.

It sounds and looks amazing. Salk did a truly awesome job and it sounds perfect. I now have a near seamless front soundstage. Plus everything matches and the oppo is all hooked up.

These speakers are wicked awesome. Can't say it enough. :D

Actually speaking of surrounds........

Well, never mind. I'll make you guys wait for pics :p

Front ported centers, while not a rarity, seem to be the logical choice considering where they are typically placed. I wonder why most aren't ?

I think/guess most often they're sealed but that's a good question and we deserve some answers !!! ... okay, too much coffee.

YAA, I liked the Phil3s in stereo better than M/C w/ the SC. Not a big difference but they just had this slightly more natural sound with vocals that I think audiophile/BS'ers might refer to as 'revealing'. Words like subtleties and nuance need to be used in this proclamation by somebody with a better working knowledge of English.

I take it the Phil center has bridged that gap and, and, and ... just maybe ... exceeded the listening bliss offered by the Phil3s alone? Oh, yeah ... Adam is absolutely correct ... you suck. :D :)

I agree with Alex, that most centers are sealed. However, there are a variety of situations where a rear ported center wouldn't be too much of an issue. My entertainment center is fairly deep so when I had the cherry Salk Center it had about 10ish inches to breathe. Then there are people with dedicated rooms and projector screens that may be able to give their centers enough room as well.

As to why there are more front ported centers, I have no idea other than to say I would guess it has to with an aesthetics. My assumption would be that more people don't want to see the ports on the front while also not knowing that rear ported speakers need lots of space behind them.

I've had three centers before this one. Polk Csi A6, nht ThreeC, and the Salk Song Center. Each one got me a little closer to matching the Phils in SQ (well I already had the polk when I got the Phils so maybe that doesn't count) but was never quite "right". I still have to get everything zeroed in and fiddle with it, but just level matching them..........whoa. I think this is about as close to having three Phil 3's up front as I can get without jumping up to the Salk Soundscape Center or another Phil 3.

I played an Adele blu-ray concert I have a few times yesterday in stereo and in multi-channel and I couldn't decide which I liked more. I'll have to watch it again today and figure out what the differences I was hearing were. I can't remember because I was just riding the high of having the new center. :D

So I had Walter lend me these for a bit. Still have yet to give them a real workout in their final position. Walter will probably laugh because I tried to act like I wouldn't get around to setting them up today. Jokes on me I guess :D

Doesn't look as good as the front soundstage...................yet :)

Sorry, next time I'll remember to have some porn on there. Although I'm not sure I want to put up the kind you, Alex, etc like. That's "boring thread only" type of stuff.

:p JK

No I'm not

Just take the grills off of those speakers. Ewwww, baby...that's the stuff.
I'll have to see about taking those off. I've been told they're a bugger to get back on. Plus you can't see the side firing woofer down on the bottom. These things are saweeeet :D

Just watched a little bit of Pear Harbor because it arrived today. I have to say that even though it's only a native 5.1, when upmixed to 7.1 it sounds so so good. I'd love to try it 9.4, but soon enough.

EDIT: I'd love to try it in Hamaskai 22.2.

I have to say, these surrounds are about as good as it gets without adding two more subwoofers. Those side firing woofers really add to the bass. I'm considering running them full range and seeing how it goes. Plus the top firing woofer adds a lot of height, so anything flying overhead sounds like it's really coming from overhead.

Personally, I'm shocked that they didn't release that in 7.1. The sounds of the fruit falling out of the trees alone warranted it.

:D

A flash light, a blanket, a can of what appears to be wd-40 and a box of goldfish. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I think we found our newest member of the boring thread(I'm sure you've figured out that boring is actually a verb in the context)

In all seriousness I like the speaker design. I may use a tall box for my surrounds when I do my surrounds project. :D

Those are Walter's surround surrounds. I thought you meant his rear surrounds. Rick said he liked those a lot. It's an omni polar design ... or bi polar?

22.2? I only see one sub? Hmm not going to be very balanced
