Sadly, though, I'm a NIN purist and I haven't ever found a NIN cover that I've really liked.

Yes, not even Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt.

What NIN is cover-worthy, tho? :) Not a big fan myself particularly, altho have liked some of the stuff with Atticus Ross....

Not sure I follow what you mean there.
Meaning more they're less songs to copy than performances to copy? Not sure now myself :) I just don't know NIN all that well either....
I think I know what you're talking about.

NIN is unique enough that covering some songs like Hurt (I like it, not as much, but I'm a Cash fan) work when you do it almost exactly the same way. Covering songs and doing them the way the original was done to where it sounds the same is cool, but boring. That's all we'd really get from NIN covers. At least I think.

I have a whole playlist in my Plex server that is just covers and I forgot to add that I like most of Marilyn Manson's covers (Tainted Love, Sweet Dreams, Personal Jesus, I Put a Spell on You, Cry Little Sister, etc) too:

And I love System of a Down's cover of Metro:

I had forgotten about these. His covers have all been pretty good.

Awesome covers folks! This is my all-time favorite cover album, pulling from such disparate sources such as Sparks, The Doors, Iggy Pop, Billie Holiday and even Disney! When it came out (1987) there were no liner notes (nor internet) so it was fun trying to figure out which artists The Banshees were covering - I knew most of 'em, but some evaded me for years...

Seriously, I have no life.
Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Little Wing is still the all time greatest.
His version of Voodoo Chile isn't too bad, either.

Saw his show from about 12' from the front edge of the stage at Summerfest during the 'Couldn't Stand The Weather' tour.

Another White Stripes favorite. Son House's Death Letter Blues. I never got to see them, but I've seen Jack solo. Great shows.

Another long time favorite cover

Trust in Me is awesome and creepy - love it! Strange Fruit is another great interpretation.

one more for the fun - do share it with your better half (assuming they are near or past age 50)

Was surprised to find this on one of their albums and it is pretty good. Too bad the show I had tix for got cancelled

Probably my favorite track from The Crow soundtrack is a cover of Joy Division and arguably, I think I like the NIN version better:

Tickets are available for their show here but it is Gen Admission $360 for 2 and it is about 1hr away. I am seriously thinking about it. I've seen them twice and both were epic shows.

I had that cover of Dead Souls as my ringtone for years: "They keep calling me.... keep on CALLING ME!"
