But it would be the correct L/R matching if you turned around with your back to the speakers as if they were surround backs. I think those speaker posts are primarily for surround back speakers, but could also be used to power zone 2 or bi-amping. I originally had 7.1 and when I ran the test tones they were all correct L/R matching, but then I decided to try bi-amping my fronts and had to switch the L and R because the speakers are now in front of me, not behind me.

Denon AVR3805 RC-969

Does Denon have plans to upgrade this remote? In other words, are they going to come out with a remote to replace this? This thing is quite flimsy and the battery life is a month.

The replacement remote has a blue background instead of the original black background with blue buttons.

I was having problems with my 3805 remote. I called Denon and the rep said there was a new version of the remote out. This new version of the 3805 remote is now replacing the old black touch pad with a blue touch pad. It works perfecly so far and seems to be a little more readable in bright conditions.
How did you get it replaced? Mine died after 1 month and 27 days.

I just put mine in the mail today. I hope to have the new replacement (black letters...blue background) sometime soon. I've never used my remote because of ambient light and the inability to see any of the keys. Hopefully the black text will resolve this and I can finally park my doggy Sony universal remote.

3805 Front Display panel

I bought this reciever a month ago. The Front display panel on reciever turns itself off after a couple of seconds unless you change something like increasing/decreasing volume or change function. Issue is, by just looking at the receiver I cannot say which mode it is on -DVD, cable, etc.
Is this by design or something is wrong with my receiver?

I have this reciever for one week. During the manual setting and 3 days of tests, i didn't encounter the display panel turning itself off, except in the pure direct mode.
You have to check your receiver.

Finally, i bought the receiver from England, the remote has black background and blue letters. Its module is RC-970 and not RC-969. The retailer told me it is the new one and the most upto date, Any comments?

DEnon RC969

I got my remote replaced today and I also called Denon. They told me that the New RC 969 is replacing the old Black faced RC 969. For those of you interested, goto Denon's website and send them an email to get it replaced. Fortunately, the Vender I purchased my AVR 3805, was able to replace my broken one with the New Blue faced remote. At least now all the buttons are lined up properly.

LaK your Display turns off....

Make sure whatever mode you're in, you have PURE DIRECT mode Turned off. PURE DIRECT will Turn off the Video Signals on the unit.

All I can tell you is if you have an Audio Dealer near you, you should check it out. This Denon is Extremely Clean when it comes to Sound.

I know this is going to sound noobish here , but I've tried reading through the other posts and still have some questions ........

Hurricane Ivan destroyed my Pioneer Elite receiver , and this weekend I purchased the AVR 3805 so that I could still enjoy Sunday Football , etc .

I love the audio quality of the receiver , but my whole picture has turned puke green . I've tried connecting to different outlets within the room to no avail . My Directv menu screen is green instead of blue .

I've seen you guys discussing possible line conditioner solutions (I confess , have never heard of these until here ) , but don't want to spend a fortune on solutions as I'm house/baby poor these days .

Any help is greatly appreciated . Wife will kill me for spending over $1000 and getting a crappy green tinted picture .

My Set up is :
Denon AVR 3805 receiver
Toshiba SD-4800 DVD Player
Phillips CDR 820
Front L/R Speakers : Paradigm Monitor 11's
Back L/R speakers : Paradigm ADP 370
Center speaker : Paradigm CC-370
Subwoofer : Paradigm PS-1200

thanks,
Kevin

Take heart - no WAY is this a line conditioner issue...

Connect the DirecTV directly to your monitor - bypassing the Denon to troubleshoot where the problem is occuring.

Then, try rechecking your video cables and settings, especially on the DirecTV receiver. Check that everything is outputting component video and that the Red, Green and Blue cables are correctly connected.

Thanks Hawke ,

You're the man !

I actually routed all of my component video and S-video cables through my 55 inch Sony TV . That seemed to work perfectly , as my green's turned to blues .

I'm blown away by this receivers ability to produce sheer power . My old Pioneer Elite VSX-35TX couldn't touch this thing in terms of power . I finally have something that does my Paradigm's some justice .

I immediatley demo'd my favorite scenes in "Black Hawk Down" ....the fight for the chopper with Shughart/Gordon is now so real that it's scary .

In summary : I love this piece of equipment !!!

Help! Suddenly, no signal from my 3805 to the sub!

I bought the Denon 3805 10 days ago and I hooked it up to my Denon DVD 2200 using the six channel out. Everything was fine for a few days. All 5 speakers and the powered subwoofer were working. My DVD-As and SACDs sounded great, until last night. I popped in Spyro Gyra's "The Deep End" SACD which I just received in the mail from Telarc. Suddenly, no bass! No signal to the sub! When I turned the sub's own volume to the max, I could hear a very weak signal!

Worse, when I played my other DVD-As, which sounded great a week ago, again there was no bass! What happened? I didn't touch anything! I triple checked the sub, it's fine (it worked in stereo 5/7 channel mode using my old CD player & the 3805). I checked the speaker and sub configuration on the 3805, I even did a test tone. All was in order. What happened? Can somebody help me?

Thanks...

Just a thought...

I remember reading recently that Telarc produces some discs that are not 'normal' 5.1 discs. They repurpose the surround channels as height channels and route the information that would normally go there in a way that makes it sound like it comes from the front but above the front channel sounds (similar to Yamaha's 'presence' speakers). The LFE channel is stripped out.

See if there is any documentation that came with the disc that mentions this. I'll post a link to more info if I can find it again.
