Is it just me or does the EMP E55ti (and it's little brother) look very similar to the much more expensive PSB Synchrony One?

Actually, I think the EMP E55ti looks a lot better - at least on the web.:eek:

I think they are both fairly attractive speakers. However, I think the PSB's win hands down in the looks department.

At least until you set the stacks of cash you saved on the top of the EMP's... then I find them quite a bit more attractive. :D

So just from the front & side views with the grilles on, you guys think the PSB looks $4,000 better than the EMP?:D

Does the PSB look better? Yes. Does it look $4000 better? No.

Both are boring-looking tower speakers, neither of which is especially attractive. However, the main thing is how they sound, not how they look.

Between them, I would select based on sound (and price). I would not trust online photos of them to determine which looks better in real life. However, in the original photos posted in this thread, I think the EMPs look better. But I think that is largely due to the way the photos were taken rather than due to any difference in how they actually look in real life.

The EMPs certainly do look quite nice. I'm curious if anyone has any experience with them? Does their sound live up to their look? I was recently looking for info on the EMPs but they don't seem very popular, is there a reason for that?. Thanks for any info you may have.

Definately!! :D
If I had asked, "Does the Synchrony One look $10,000 better?", you would have said, "HELL YES!"

FAN BOY!!!!:D

That's okay. To each his own.:)

"They (EMP E55ti) sound wonderful. Not quite the most holographic imaging in the world, at least not in my room, but otherwise a good deal, with a very detailed but laid back top end and a smooth, clean, natural midrange, and they play loud without strain."

"If you want a speaker that can truly deliver a tonally accurate, dynamically lifelike reproduction of your music which also happens to look stunningly beautiful, than the EMP Impression E55Ti's should fit the bill nicely. The E55Ti's give you a huge soundstage and can play exceedingly loud down to a modest 50 Hz, with little to no audible compression. In my opinion, these speakers look as good as they sound which is something I rarely find myself saying at this price point for a tower speaker system."

In room response (which is usually NOT very good due to wall reflections) from 300Hz - 20kHz was +/-2dB deviation, which is extremely good, which means they are very accurate.

That 30-day trial is nice.

Def Tech makes the best speakers in the world BAR NONE.:D

However, since I don't own a single Def Tech speaker, I am OFFICIALLY NOT a FAN BOY.:D

I am 100% impartial now; no conflict of interest.:D

I still think the Def Tech BP7000SC mops the floor with the B&W 800D!:D

However, after listening to the PSB Imagine T, I cannot say the BP7000 mops the floor with the PSB Synchrony One.:D

Since I've never auditioned the Synchrony One, I can only extrapolate from my audition of the Imagine T.

Since the Imagine T sounds very good, I deduct that the Synchrony One must sound even better.

A = BP7000
B = Imagine T
C = Synchrony One

Since A > B, & since C > B, it is possible that A = C.

All the kidding aside you should compile a list of the all the speakers you've auditioned recently and grade them if possible....I for one would certainly appreciate the effort.:)
