I asked because two members of our coffee clutch have KIA's and have had zero issues, one of which is now 3 years old.
I test drove a few Kia Pro'Ceed brand new (compact estate/wagon with it's styling cues straight up stolen from Porsche) in 2019.

These are dual clutch transmissions and across two different cars I experienced that when lightly accelerating the transmission seemingly would engage two gears at once and then back off one of them repeatedly.

The overall result would technically qualify as acceleration, but it was incredibly uncomfortable. The car would jerk back and forth, lightly in the beginning, but with increasing intensity going on to essentially destabilize the vehicle.

The flaw was present in both cars I drove (different engines and body styles, same transmission)

When I got back, I explained what I experienced and at first the sales guy was very surprised and "did not understand that at all". Later, he had a slip of tongue moment, where he said that he would direct he feedback to their workshop because they "had promised him they fixed that issue."

Needless to say, I'm not buying from that dealer, then or now. Instead, I bought a Mercedes, but to be fair, if I were to shop today I would include in my consideration a Kia EV6 (but from a different dealer). But a Kia ICE car, I would not.

I would still test drive extensively though. Many options just seemed to exist solely so Kia could claim to have that option, rather than actually work well. The ACC was a much much worse experience in the Kia than in the Mercedes, just to name an example.

'sales guy was very surprised' , LOL , I'd be curious as what the Service writer had to say.

Yeah, it'd probably have the makings of a fine "customer states"-video.

- "Customer states car attempts to engage two gears simultaneously."
- "Well, customer must be retarded, obviously."
- *performs test-drive*
- "Well, son of a ..."

:D
