Planning to setup Tactile for Home Theater.

Is the Crown XLS 2502 a good Amp for Buttkicker LFE ?

XLS2502 Manual says :

"The PureBand Crossover System provides a variable state Linkwitz-Riley 24dB/octave filter allowing you to choose a point between 30Hz and 3kHz on standard 1/12th octave centers. Three filter types are available: Low Pass, High Pass and Band Pass"

LFE Manual says :

"Frequency Response: 5 – 200 Hz"

So does this mean that the XLS2502 will not be able to utilize the ButtKicker LFE abilities below 30Hz ?

Thanks.

If you don't apply filters it runs full range.

And the Crown specs are talking about setting crossover points - the central turnover point of the crossover...

So you can set the crossover to be a low pass filter at 30Hz - ie: to attenuate the frequencies ABOVE 30Hz - leaving the frequencies below intact., or it can be set as a 30Hz high pass filter with the opposite effect

It doesn't state that 30hz is a frequency limit!

I want to buy the Crown XLS 1502 for Buttkicker Gamer Pro, for sim racing, flight simulators, PC - Simhub
The default Buttkicker Gamer Pro amp is getting pretty hot ( and clipping ) if I increase the volume, up to 24 %
Can anyone please, help me ? I don't know much about that kind of stuff.
Any advices are welcome, thank you

What are the specs of the Buttkicker Gamer Pro amp? Volume in terms of a percentage compared among different seteups doesn't mean much particularly.

The ButtKicker Gamer PRO power amplifier (BKA-PRO) is a 150-watt RMS digital amplifier designed for sim racing and gaming, featuring a 10-300Hz frequency response and a 2-ohm impedance. It includes a wireless remote, digital volume display, and operates on universal power (100V - 240V).
  • Power Output: 150 Watts RMS @ 2 ohms
  • Frequency Response: 10 - 300 Hz
  • Input Voltage: 100V - 240V Universal
  • Dimensions: 9.4" L x 7.6" W x 2.8" H (approx. 23.9 x 19.3 x 7.1 cm)
  • Weight: 3.7 lbs (approx. 1.7 kg)
  • Features: Digital volume display, wireless remote control, 2-ohm nominal impedance
Thank you

LE : I just googled " crown xls 1502 for buttkicker gamer pro " and the A.i. answer is :

The Crown XLS 1502 is an excellent, high-efficiency Class-D amplifier for the Buttkicker Gamer Pro, providing 525W per channel at 4Ω or 1,550W bridged at 4Ω (the Gamer Pro is typically 4Ω). Its built-in DSP (Low Pass Filter) allows precise tuning of haptic effects, making it a powerful upgrade over the stock amp.

Key Considerations for this Pairing:
  • Power: The Gamer Pro can handle high wattage, and the XLS 1502 offers plenty of headroom, allowing for strong, clean, and fast-acting haptic feedback.
  • Wiring: Run the amplifier in Bridge Mono mode to deliver 1,550W @ 4Ω (ensure you follow the bridge wiring diagram on the back of the amp).
  • Connection: Use the XLR or RCA inputs from your PC/soundcard and connect the ButtKicker to the Speakon or binding post outputs.
  • Settings: Use the internal crossover on the XLS 1502 to set a low-pass filter around 80Hz-100Hz to ensure the transducer only receives low-frequency haptic signals.
  • Protection: The peakx™ limiters on the Crown should be enabled to prevent damaging the transducer, though the Gamer Pro is rugged.
I don't know how much I should trust the Google Ai, that's why I asked on a forum.

Not a lot of power compared to what the 2502 can offer at that impedance (spec is 1200w for one of two channels into 2ohm, even the Crown 1002 at 550w is better). Whether the transducer can use more power might be the better question.

Power Handling: 75 watt min. / 250 watt max.

So, 2502 would be better than 1502 ?

Seems any of the Crown amps can put you in the area where you can self-inflict damage easier. Doesn't seem the 2502 gives you any particular advantage over the 1502 due the basic limitations. FWIW I own several XLS1500s and a 2502, used mostly for subs but also a tactile transducer (I use a Clark Synthesis model myself on a 1500)

So, you don't recommend any of the Crown XLS?
Is not possible to avoid damaging the drive, with the Peakx limiter, on the Crown?
What else could I get, if Crown XLS is out of the question?
Thank you for your help.
By the way, do you use the Clark Synthesis, for gaming?
Which model do you own?

No, am saying there are a variety of amps that can be used, but the 2502 may be more than needed. If determined you can always damage something even with helpful clipping features like the Crown has.. I use a Clark TST209
