You should compare specs of above amplifier. It is a Class D hypex and will likely have much better specs than the monolith.

Yeah, those Hypex amps have really been killing it too. I would not mind owning one of those either. If they'd been out when I was buying I might well have gotten one instead.

Re: Subs... Rythmik doesn't give you anything in their 16 year old tech that you can't get elswhere. Everything about Rythmik being more musical and the Servos being some magic bullet is just marketing fluff and dogma

It is. Worth looking into for sure. I'm super happy with the Monolith, but if I'm being honest I'd probably give those newer class D amps a shot if they were available when I was looking. I got the Mono 7 when Monoprice first put them out.

Uh oh... them's akin to 4 letter words 'round these here parts...

Sorta. They don't have great customer support post-warranty. They won't fix it even if you're willing to pay them. You pretty much get abandoned once the warranty runs out. Thats a pretty big ding when it happens to the EIC of a popular audio forum... you won't hear many kind words about Emotiva here.

When I was thinking about buying their Amps, they couldn't (or wouldn't) answer some basic questions about the performance of their amp modules.

They lost a customer. And I don't mind telling people this. It's an embarrassment for a company with such promise.

You don't start a business to say no. And if your tech team cannot readily tell you what amount of power an amp module can deliver when running full tilt on a single, multi-channel amp, then they aren't doing it right.

Oh, and lets not forget a history of unfulfilled promises, short product lifecycles, and the fore mentioned warranty support concerns.

I do not think you'll be disappointed with the Paradigm Premiers. They reviewed really well here and the big 3 way center channel is a big plus. It's about as good a design as it gets for a center and at least on par with the Ultras. I'd just stick with your first choice in the original post and run with it. You'll end up with paralysis analysis if you start overthinking it.

The Premiers are very good speakers. I think @Eppie Might have listened to those too. He's a Paradigm guy and has been getting out a little bit to check out speakers recently I think...

Just find which speakers you wish to compare and shoot him a question as a Private Message or on this website using @shadyJ.

For raw power and performance I think the Monolith 16 can hang with the PB16 Ultra.

The Monolith 16 flatly outperforms the PB16-Ultra. However, the PB16-Ultra is still a performance monster.

But I have to agree with others here, it makes more sense to get two powerful subs rather than a single gigantic monster. If it were me, I would go for four subs with good fundamental performance. Four subs will do a hell of a lot to smooth out the in-room response without resorting to equalization, and the response linearity is the largest determinant of sound quality in bass frequencies.

You will still get the insane SPL of a larger sub with three or four medium-sized subs, but they will be easier to move around and set up. Plus, you can potentially use a lot less current on your electrical circuit. The PB-16 and Monolith 16 need a huge amount of electricity if you want to push them to their limit. They could use an entire 15-amp circuit on their own. Also, if you ever needed to sell the audio equipment, it is much easier to sell off the smaller subs than one huge sub.

If it were me, I would be looking at three or four Outlaw Audio Ultra-X12s, Monolith 12" THX Ultras, Hsu Research VTF-2 mk5s, or SVS PC-2000 Pros. That would be a whole lot of bass right there. Step up to the Hsu VTF-3 mk5 or VTF-15h mk2, or the Monoprice 15" THX Ultra, but not at the expense of getting fewer subs.

The Marantz AV7706 is basically the same as the AV7705 but with support for 8k. The measured performance of the AV7705 was pretty bad compared to nearly every other modern processor. You might want to skip the AV7706. Get the Denon or Anthem equivalent. The Monoprice HTP-1 is a terrific processor, ESPECIALLY for a multi-sub system, but who knows if it will ever be in stock again. You would have to get in contact with the Monolith product line to inquire.

Im still probably 4-6 months out from actually purchasing.
