Considering the purchase of an Home Audio EQ

Sliders adjust gain.
Inner and outer knobs control "width" aka Q and center frequency.

I need to get in there and use some fader lube. There's a little crackling when adjusting the gains but outside of that the unit functions flawlessly. I've got kind of a plan for that and a Carver amp I got from Walter.
Yes, and it does not have legs. If you want it and can make use of it, I will service it and make sure everything is in order. It is actually a fairly decent unit. It has red LEDs in each fader knob. Just let me know.

Send me pics of the EQ please TLS Guy. Still considering an EQ Brand name Outland any good?

I already did. Here is another.

I don't want to go to the trouble of finding it in storage unless you want it!

It is the Eq above the Revox A 700 tape recorder. The other one is a Spectro Acoustics 2/10R which I still use.

I don't know what that means.

That sounds great. When are you coming out?
You're talking about a house call, right? :D

No LED's on this one. I checked the FR of some speakers with and without the EQ in the loop and determined that it didn't color the sound at all (as far as I could tell with a Rives disc) with everything set to zero and I used it to cut a couple of peaks by a few dB's but eventually removed it from the system to service and rack mount it along with an amp in a portable hard case with removable front and back.

I have a terrible fear of shipping damage and right now near as I can tell the unit works fine ... just needs a little fader lube for really slick functionality. The trick is that with all the different stuff going on on that front panel it's pretty cramped and looks like it might be very time consuming to take stuff apart to be able to get to the 'pots' or whatever you call them.

I actually went to a real electronics store and spent like 20 bucks for something a little bigger than an eye dropper bottle with fader lube written on it. It might be DeoxiT ... I forgot.

Definitely a very cool piece of gear with far reaching capabilities.

I have to ask...how old are you sir?
If the OP doesn't want to play, I will. I'm 12 ... do you want me to be a boy or a girl? :D

I have been in the consumer electronics business for over 30 years and have never heard of that brand- approximately where are you located?

That is an impressive degree of control! I never considered you could dial the frequency for each slider!
All analog, I presume?

Its the ADC Sound Shaper 2, if I remember correctly.
MKII I believe ...

and in the words of KEW ...

That is a nice looking unit!

Gotta be analog.

As an example the first band is centered at 60Hz and can be adjusted from 20Hz-180Hz. The idea is that it goes 1.6 octaves either way with a Q ranging from 0.7 to 7. I'm more and more into it as we go along. :)

For a très cool digital EQ I got this toy ...

These things should be outlawed. The amount of time you can spend messing around with one of these is criminal. ADC makes or made nice stuff.

TapeMaster, if the good Dr. is offering you that EQ, you should take it ... although you might need to tell him what you're wearing ... maybe some web camming. :D :p

Those are often called 'Para-graphic' equalizers, with 'para' being short for 'parametric'. Graphic in the way the sliders are basically a graphic representation of the changes and parametric in that the Q and frequency parameters can be changed.

Nah – For “most amazing ever Technics EQ” I’d vote for the SH-8065 and SH-8075 graphics or SH-9010 parametric. :)

Spectro Acoustics are really good equalizers, and I I have my 2/10 R for well over thirty years. Signal to noise is excellent, and it has never had a noisy fader. They were top of the line and used in many studios in their day.

I'll just assume that that Technics might be exspensive to have repaired right channel out! I think i'll buy the Spectro Acoustics!
