TLS Guy is helping you as an act of kindness.
He has offered to give you an EQ and earlier offered a nice old Pioneer 8 track with reverb unit to any one who wanted it!

TLS Guy More than likely it still works but unable to check. Amp came out in 1990's I'm not going to pay you for repairs or the Service Manual. No Money Sorry! Thank you for helping me out though!
The manual was free and I never said anything about repairing it.

For starters just switch the tape 2 input leads, then you will know.

You really must try to solve some of your own problems with logical thought and process, before aimlessly posting.

The more accurate data you give us the more we are able to help you.

This episode was totally devoid of thought and investigation on your part.

No just trying to guide and teach you. Learning is life long. It requires constant effort and struggle. To get the best advice and guidance it is important to obtain all relevant data you can, research your subject and then thoughtfully form your question.

TLS Guy I think I have identified the cause of the problem it appears that there is a crack or small hole puncture in the hook up cable, that is why only the right channel was producing sound.

That may well be your problem, but you need to switch the working right channel to the left channel of the tape 2 input, and make sure you have sound. No sound equals amp problem. Sound equals tape unit problem, or the suspicious problem in the lead.

If the sound comes out of the left channel when you plug the right into it, cut out the suspicious area of the lead you have identified.

Now solder a female RCA socket on the end from the tape recorder and a male RCA plug on the end going to the amplifier. Check your work with a meter, and hopefully you will be back in business. If not you have problem with that tape recorder.

You might want to consider the Technics SH-9010. I owened that for many years and just recently passed it on to Alex. I am not sure but I think retail on that was $550.-- at least over 20 years ago. It was a great unit and served me well.

Walter,
That is a nice looking unit! What do the knobs under the sliders control?
All I can think of is the "width" of the band being EQ'ed which would be pretty cool, but that still leaves one other control!

My dad and I are gonna figure something out probally just gonna solder in a whole new cable.

That will work to. Just make sure you replicate the sleeve/grommet, where the wires leave the machine. Otherwise you will be back in the same boat.

What I would do is find a place to mount RCA output sockets. That is the ideal solution.

Ok Thank you for the advice TLS Guy Do you still have the EQ just in case I still want it?

Well we are gonna pull the whole unit apart and have a look inside it. When I had both the leads hooked up last night No Sound! Played with it for a few minutes sound out of both channels the one kept cutting in and out though.

Sliders adjust gain.
Inner and outer knobs control "width" aka Q and center frequency.

I need to get in there and use some fader lube. There's a little crackling when adjusting the gains but outside of that the unit functions flawlessly. I've got kind of a plan for that and a Carver amp I got from Walter.
