Ohio State plays Michigan in Ann Arbor. That will be a tough game. That is not an easy place to play at.

I think Oregon's Strength and Conditioning coaches need to look at why their players are having so many ACL injuries. That many fairly close together starts looking suspicious. It could just be coincidence though.
This is a great observation, annunaki. I've wondered and whined about this for years. This is NOT a one-year phenomenon. Every year Oregon loses more players for the season to ACL's than any team in the PAC-10. I lay it on the conditioning/strength coaches and trainers. They are up to 5 different player ACL surgeries over the last 5 weeks. Something is wrong. This is the very reason for the Ducks swoon after going 5-0 last year. 2/3 of the staring defense was out for season.

Well it would appear that a bye week wasn't at all that bad for OU. Looks like they will be at worst #2 when the new ranking come in.

OSU losses at home to Illinois 28-21:eek:.

Maybe the problem is the devaluation of the dollar...making the Buckeyes the....90-Centeyes? :D

With all the upsets of the #1's and #2's this year, I almost hate to see the Ducks get one of those spots. Last week's BCS rankings had LSU and Oregon very close for #2. It will be interesting to see what happens in tomorrow's poll release. ("Tomorrow's?! ;))

What became of the OP? Has Buckeye_Nut vanished?

Probably standing on some bridge, after todays loss:p. However, he is always 1 post away from rattling someones chain when he starts his next thread/appearance. He seems to thrive more when the thread is more controversial JMO.

Well that's easier for him to predict, then who will be in the big dance:p? If OU & LSU win out their remaining games then I can't see the other OU(Sooners) or Kansas topple them. Even if Kansas remains unbeaten the top 2 positions won't change, unless there's a loss.:) Oh and thanks for making me chuckle its a nice way to start the work day.:D

My pleasure, Billy! :)

I think your reasoning is sound, BUT when was the last time much of anything those nerds at the BCS computers did made good sense? Kansas, god love 'em, have played a schedule fit for a high school team (or Ohio State, lol). Oklahoma should crush them in the Big-12 championship game.

I'm gonna go out on another limb here and predict that because LSU, even though they play nobodies for their last games, are not that good, make too many mistakes, and will lose the SEC championship game. That puts OU vs. OU in the BCS title game. Guess what....Oklahoma is still steamed up over that Instant Replay boner call that caused them to lose to Oregon two years ago. This will be a huge, hard hitting game, and IMHO, worthy of the championship bowl game.

:(

You had it right Annunaki. Every one of Oregon's starting receivers and backs (and inside linebackers) are out for the season...with unknown injuries tonight to the last two stars, Dixon (qb) and Stewart (rb), both Heisman candidates.

Strength/conditioning coaches and trainers should all be fired. I saw the female trainer working hard, stretching Dixon's left quad, really pushing against knee ligaments, just seconds before he went down with the knee injury in the game last week.

This game tonight was very sad, as the nation never got to see the real Ducks...truly a stunning team and offensive juggernaut at season's beginning. By the way, that injured guy limping around, pretending to be Dixon's backup was a third stringer, as the second string qb went down for the season with an ACL (in practice) before the second game of the season.

This opens the door for my USC Trojans to win out and get to the Rose Bowl.

I'm actually more glad to see that OSU will not make it to the NC Game. Nobody wants to see them get clobbered again.

Not really. If Oregon gets enough healthy bodies to win out, they go to the Rose Bowl (by virtue of having the tie-breaker over USC (should USC win out...Oregon beat USC and they'd both have two losses). ASU has the Rose Bowl if they win out.

Dixon is out for the season. I think UCLA will have ducks for dinner.

Sure kick them when their down! UCLA always plays down to the level of competition and may in fact be looking past them ! Beware;) and don't count your ducks before ..... :p.

Another wild Saturday in college football. Two more teams out of the hunt for the NC - Oregon and Oklahoma.

I would love to see OSU play USC in the Rose Bowl - almost as much as I'd like to see OSU go to the NC and play LSU - if they survive that long. OSU/USC would be a much bigger hyped game than OSU/ASU.

LSU has won too many games by too few points to be the powerhouse they were supposed to be all season long. LSU plays Arkansas next weekend. Arkansas beat Ol Miss 44-8 compared to LSU's 41-24 win. LSU will have their hands full with Arkansas. That will be a great test.

As said earlier, Oregon's strength and conditioning has much to be desired. Great talent, but without conditioning, talent alone won't get you there. Even if Oregon made it to the Rose Bowl, they'd have little chance against OSU without their starting QB.

West Virginia has a great chance to make it, but I was not impressed with their play tonight. Their schedule was on par with OSU's easy schedule this year. They do have a great conditioning program.

Kansas plays Mizzou next weekend, so rule one of them out. I think Mizzou had a tougher schedule and more quality wins compared to Kansas, but Kansas' schedule wasn't cookies and cream either. Kudos to Kansas for an umblemished season ytd.

What I hate is that my Buckeye's are done until after the new year. It's bittersweet to end the season 11-1 knowing teams are still playing another 2-3 weeks.

55 days is too much time off to remain in a competitive mode. That killed us last year, and had OSU gone undefeated again, would be another reason to blow it again. Someone needs to fix the schedules to avoid this rediculous time off.

On a last note - congrats to Lloyd Carr for a great run at Michigan. Although Tressel had his number, he had John Coopers' forever. What a great game today. There's nothing better than winning at the Big House.

I agree with you regarding LSU but thats the BCS Bull Crap System we have right now. LSU could easily have 4 losses yet they're still number 1.

I think LSU Tigers have been the best team all season! This coming from a person who's strictly unbiased! Why you ask, because I have no rooting interest. You guy's keep talking how they've won, but remember that's what counts;). Just ask the teams around them! Another thing they had one of the toughest schedule's(look it up if you don't believe me;)) and the teams they beat where highly ranked and most are still in the top 25.
The last two games will be tough playing Arkansas at home and Georgia in the SEC final. IMO they have handled them in the past and will again.

Although they haven't often given me much to be happy about, I'm almost giddy with Illinois this year. 9-3 overall, with a victory over OSU on their home turf. My personal favorite - we're ranked (most places) higher than Michigan. Hee, hee! Yes, yes...Michigan can rightfully brag that they normally trounce us, and they did beat us this year...so I have to enjoy it while I can. :)

Very well said on all counts.......

One small difference is that I'll be rooting against Slippery Pete tomorrow night against ASU.....for no real reason except that I enjoy rooting against USC:) With that said, I do expect ASU to fall to the Trojans.

I totally agree that November 17th is WAAAY too early end the regular season. Kinda sucks....IMO.

I'm afraid OSU losing LATE is the nail in the coffin for our title hopes. Yes....there is still a chance and this year has been a crazy year chocked full of crazy upsets, but I don't think the Bucks make it to Nawlins. I predict the Buckeyes move up to 3rd in the polls and miss Nawlins by a sliver once everything is said and done. I hope I'm wrong!!

The KU/MU game ensures the Buckeyes move to 4th. If the winner of that game loses to Texas or OU in the Big12 championship game....woah....then I think we'll have a chance!! Then if either LSU OR WVU loses a game down the stretch.... WE'RE IN! With that said, having the Rose Bowl as your teams fall back position isn't really such a bad thing.

PS....that's really too bad about Dixon getting hurt. The ducks are in pretty bad shape without him.
