What a great game? Only if you are a Carolina fan. Other than Villanova-Pitt and Mich St-Kansas last weekend, it seems like every game since the first weekend has kind of sucked. This is the worst NCAA tourney I can remember.
What's wrong with a NCAA tournament where the high-seeded teams did well? It means the selection committee did their job well. I think that so many people entering their bracket selections into betting pools has put a little too much emphasis on upsets and Cinderella teams.

I think the biggest Cinderella team of the tournament was Michigan State. Were they originally a 3rd seed? They upset two number 1 seeds in a row, Louisville and then Connecticut. By the time they faced an experienced and highly motivated Carolina, they blinked, and in a few minutes their carriage turned into a pumpkin. With 2 seniors graduating from an otherwise young team, I think we'll see them again next year. Their Final Four experience may do the same thing next year for Michigan State that happened this year for Carolina. Tom Izzo is a good coach. All he needs is a slot in the next Guitar Hero commercial ;).

I thought it was a good tourney as well. My Jayhawks did better than expected, and MU and OU did pretty good as well. I anticipate MU and KU both going deep next year, but we'll see. Congrats to UNC, I know my Tarheel-uncle is probably nursing a hangover. ;)

Nope no way no how! The selection committee sucks because they did not include Kentucky!!!!!:D:eek: J/k of course. No really, they did do a really great job. However, next year I bet Kentucky is in the mix. I would be happy with a Sweet 16 finish and would literally have a heart attack if they won it all!!!!! ;);) Stranger things have happened. For example, I got married a second time and then later divorced. So see, it could happen.:p:eek:

Cheers,

Very well spoken here. However, you left something out. Must have forgot about KY being in the mix next year. :D;):D It is okay though, as I am sure it was just an oversight. Don't fret, we all make mistakes sometimes. ;);)

I must disagree with you. They did a very poor job of including non BCS schools. Those schools are usually seeded poorly and upset the middle of the road big conference schools. The reason we had so few upsets is that few of those teams where given access to the tourney. Only 4 non BCS conference schools made it. Left out where San Diego St., Creighton, St. Marys, and Davidson. All of those teams should have been in the tourney and would have competed for the sweet 16.

There was strong bias toward the big 6 conferences and it's getting to be ridiculous. It's clear that they have the goal of excluding the other conferences from participation.

This happens quite often. That is, many smaller schools get snubbed for the larger ones. But, I initially did not see how Arizona even made it in. However, after watching them make it to the Sweet 16 I can no longer say that.:eek: Therefore, the Selection Committee did a great job on that one. The schools you mentioned above in your post were right there on the bubble just like Arizona was. Heck, Arizona's record was not any better than KY on paper. Thus, I doubt that KY would have made it to the Sweet 16. With that being said, the Selection Committee deserves some credibility imho. ;):);) It is worth noting, however, that the schools you mentioned in your post above could have done just as well as Arizona-who really knows? I guess, big money AND big politics win out over the smaller schools.

Folks, just found out that UK will now get Demarcus Cousins(sorry if I misspelled the name). FWIW, Demarcus is ranked 4th in the nation and is 6'10" tall which will add some size to the UK repertoire. Things are really looking up for the BIG BLUE NATION!!!!!! ;):):);)

Well folks, it looks like my Wildcats have gotten the highest ranked recruiting class/talent in the nation! In fact, John Wall just recently decided to go to UK!!! He is the highest rated player in the nation!!! Here is a clip of him:

Oh, I forgot to mention that UK has also signed Eric Bledsoe and Demarcus Cousins which are ranked #2 and #4 respectively. There are also some other promising talent coming in. Still yet, Patrick Patterson has decided to come back. I also believe that Jodie Meeks will be back as well. My guess is, UK will be in strong contention for another National Championship. Way to go Wildcats!!!! Kudos to coach Calipari. Job well done. :);):)

Update!

Folks, thought I would resurrect this thread since the 09/10 regular season is getting ready to start. So far in the pre-season, my Cats have looked quite impressive even without Jodie Meeks. In fact, I believe good things are coming their way. However, there are still many of the "Elites" out there that are just as impressive. Kansas is supposed to be quite good this year. There are the likes of N. Carolina, Duke, UConn, UofL, and etc. just to name a few. As such, I am hoping there are other forum members here that are really excited about this up-coming college basketball season. If so, who are YOU rooting for? Now is the time to speak up!

Cheers,

Phil

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! Looking forward to this season big time, especially now that my Hawks have tanked it in football this year. We also benefited greatly by Coach Cal leaving Memphis in ruins, so I can thank Kentucky for Xavier Henry.

Seriously, bball season can't start soon enough. WOOHOO!

Kentucky and Kansas need to rekindle their series. Those were fun games.

All good points here. The Hawks are going to be really good. Bill Self is one heck of a coach. As such, I am not surprised they are ranked #1. However, in due time I am sure UK will be there as well. Only time will tell. Thanks for posting. ;):);)

Well folks, my Cats are off to a 7-0 start. I am not surprised given the talent we have. However, this Saturday UK plays N. Carolina. Really looking forward to this game because Roy Williams is one of the best coaches period. I am sure it will be a good game-probably closer than I would like to see. However, in the end my Cats will prevail. At least, I hope they do!!!!! ;):);)

Oh man, I am so stoked for the big game tomorrow! N. Carolina will be the first real challenge my Cats have had to face this season. In other words, it should be a real good game. For any of you UK fans out there here is a real good website that I highly recommend:

http://new.kentuckysportsradio.com/

Another good question is which program will be the first to 2,000 wins. UK only needs four more to do just that. However, N. Carolina is closing in rather quickly. It just a matter of time before history is made. My hope is UK will be the one!!!! :);):)

OMG, UK is up by 15 pts. at the half!!!!!! I am so stoked I can hardly stand it. However, one thing I have learned over the years is to never count N. Carolina out until the fat lady is singing. Sorry, no pun intended here. I just hope UK can keep the pressure on N. Carolina and pull this one off. Both teams are very young, but very talented as well. John Wall is absolutely amazing. Personally, I would give anything if he decides to play again next year as opposed to entering the NBA draft. ;):);)

Geez, figured there would be more college basketball fans here on audioholics. Kind of looks like I am all alone here.:confused: Anyways, N. Carolina came back in the second half and almost beat UK. However, in the end UK was able to hang on and win!!!! The final score was 68-66. All I can say is WOW what a nail biter of a game if I ever saw one. Thus, I was on the edge of seat during the entire second half!!!!!!! What a game. ;):);)

I hear you on that one. It was a nail biter all the way till the end. What a game though. ;):);) Just glad the cats could hold on. However, what a scare when it came to John Wall. It looks like he will be fine. Next is UCONN and then Indiana. Both should be great games. Really looking forward to it.

Well, my Cats also beat UCONN the other night improving to a 9-0 record! However, both wins N. Carolina and UCONN have NOT been easy. Today, my Cats play Indiana. Chances are, this game will be no different. Tom Crean is one heck of a coach. Not to mention the rivalry between UK and IU. The game starts at 11:00 am central time on CBS. Thus, I am really looking forward to it. ;):);)

Wow, what a good start for IU. However, I am not surprised given Tom Crean's coaching abilities. Right now KY is up by 1 point at the half. Hopefully, my Cats can hold on once again.:p:eek:
