Any news on the Denon replacement for the 3806. It was supposed to be the 3808 or the 3807. It was to have its debut at CES 2007. Any info or pics??????

Whatever I can get 60-75% of the original purchase price of my 20 plus year old Mac stuff.
No you can't I can not even get 60-75% of the original price on my MX135!

Also, McIntosh & Denon are both owned by the same company, D&M Holdings.
I know and all the new non amp mac stuff is just re badged denon electronics. The new Mcintosh AP1000 is going to be 100% the same as the denon pre/pro but cost 2 or 3 times as much.

I'm hoping Denon's flagship pre-pro tech will trickle down into a more affordable ine of HT preamp procs. Something in the $2k region would be nice.

Editorial: Yeah, we do that too...

We've now assembled what we comically refer to as "The Dream Team" – myself, Gene DellaSala, Tom Andry, Tony Leotta and J. Walker Clarke and Eric Shelton. With this team of guys we’re really able to cover a ton of ground at these shows and provide a tremendous amount of information to our readers about a lot of products. We also do it in a ridiculously short amount of time (sleep is SO overrated!). It's not perfect, of course – and we can’t report on everything – but we do a fair amount of work and we can only get better.

CES 2007 Suggestions for Improvement

Fun… what is fun? One thinks they have a handle on fun "activities" until they’re right in the middle of them. Then they think, "Hey, this isn’t as much fun as I thought I’d have." At CES, this isn’t an uncommon occurrence for an Audioholic. Gadgets all around, impossibly hot women that are paid to talk to you, free swag… the list goes on. But when you are there with Audioholics, you become acutely aware of the size and scope of the show, the amount of new products you need to cover, and the woefully inadequate amount of time you have to cover them. So you find yourself avoiding the booth babes, praying for small swag that won’t weigh you down, and hoping beyond hope that the next marketing clone will be brief...

Some no-name furniture company... W-something... I honestly can't remember who it was, but they chased me and Tom off and scolded their staff for not beating him to it... It was quite funny- especially since they had paid tens of thousands of dollars to hear crickets chirp from the back of South Hall 2.

It doesn't matter who they are since they probably won't be around in 10 years. Not with that kind of outdated mentality.

I think Tom managed to snap off a pic - if so, we'll post it.

I did but I deleted it. A-holes like that don't deserve the coverage.

Thank you denon, it is about time they did this and I think their new pre/pro will be the death of high end! Good by Mcintosh hello denon!
I dont think we will see denon kill off high end gear i think its kinda what like zildjian said where denon would be joining or re entering the high end US market where they used to be instead of focusing mainly on moderately priced gear.

I say great, the more people making high end gear the better.

Travel Channel?

Your "in-depth coverage" was more travel log than show review. Where's the beef?

The problem with high end gear is that it is all re badged equipment, for the most part. All the pre/pros use the same DAC's the same DSP chips and the same decoding boards. The only way a pre/pro from a high end maker is going to sound better is if it is a 5/7 channel pre amp and we all know how much those cost.

I took apart my Mcintosh MX135 and it looked 100% the same as a mid range sony receiver.

I guess 100+ pages of show coverage, 1/2 dozen editorials, and over 20 videos must imply we are all vegans

CES Videos - Response

To be honest, i don't understand what the complaining is all about.
Compared to all the CES coverages, including TV one's, this is one of best I've seen to date. Look at all the other websites, and see what they have done.
I think a lot people got use to getting too much for free as far as information and coverage is concerned. At least we don't have to pay to watch any of this!!
