this stuff's worse than cars to me haha :p

ohh and are you happy with your telly? i have a 40" samsung and couldnt be happier with it, espec when watching HDTV :D
:Dyeah i go to hifi stores all the time and dream lol.
The samsung is awesome, awesome picture on movies, i dont have cable TV and HDTV is only just takin off over here, so i gonna wait. I finally fixed a problem last night.... i have the dvd player set to progressive, and plugged into HDTV input and on certain mpvies the image would blur a bit with movement. even ended up setting it back to interlace and plugging in standard component input for a while. just couldnt figure it out. Then last night it did it again so i tried turning the digital noise reduction off on the samsung, and presto!! fixed!!! strange huh.

Nice car!!! yeah i been spending alot of time on my car and we moved houseabout six months ago, so ive only just got back into the home audio thing again. my setup was just placed in my lounge with no thought till few weeks ago, i had my surrounds sittin on my mains!!!. then i came on here and thought id better clean it up. room placement makes a BIG difference

to right it does - iv shifted my surrounds again and they are more to the side and its made a huge difference IMO. espec when sitting more to one of the sides. i have on a cheap book case i bought which turns out to be exactly the same height as my bench on the opposite side :)

they are sitting at a good height now as well, a bit higher, the base of the speaker is at 80cm and it sounds a lot better with it here :)

You should put the surrounds at the sides of your listening position, or behind you. Side mounting is prefered, above ear level by about 2 feet.:)

Yeah im waitin to get some speaker cable then im puttin them each side of my couch, at the moment they are sittin about halfway between the fronts and my couch, facing me. i cant move my couch forward as our front door is on one side. its ok for now but definitely wanna move them!!!

Visit a hardware store and get some 14 gauge speaker wire for cheap. Monster Cable is too expensive for what it does (nothing but carry an electrical signal). So long as the cable is not flawed in some horrible way the sound will not be altered.

Cheers, yeah i only just learned of the speaker cable reality!! does the same apply to interconnects? do the standard ones you get with most DVD players do a good a job as exspensive RCA's? I know shielding is neccesary, but is their really that big a difference.

A difference among interconnects is very limited to nill in most cases. The ones supplied might be a little suceptable to interference, but pretty much any cables will do.

UPDATE: i purchased a 3.5mm headphone jack to 2x RCA converter so i can play my minidisc player/recorder through my system. i have this plugged into my tape input as this can be renamed "MD", its funny, the player has digital optical input for recording but only standard output. it also enables me to easily play any MP3 player through my system. i took advice and only paid ten bucks for the cable. its thick and shielded, and only difference i can see between this cheaper plug and a expensive one is the RCA connections are not as robust. there was a thin cheaper version for seven dollars, but this seemed poor quality.

Nice! I love Cerwin Vega. I am using a CLSC-15S sub and it shakes everything. Cerwin Vega = king of bass
