Carver's pair of Black Beauties

It struck me a little odd that Bob Carver would volunteer to answer questions through a very new member (NooshinJohn) and not directly approach Gene or Clint.
Also, that new member had a profit motive with the eBay auction. He also mentioned he had a patent. Why have a patent if no future profit motive exists?

I also mentioned in my 1st post: "( If this has already been approved by Gene & Clint; then I apologize, and please delete my post")

Why did you start a poll if you didn't want votes & opinions?

The poll was about having a sticky of questions asked by members here answered by Bob Carver.

A simple yes / no would suffice...

Why can't you separate that from all your other anxieties is beyond comprehension.

You could have PM'd them...

I wouldn't go over your head; I asked you.
You posted a poll and I voted and posted my opinion.
My prior interactions in the other threads didn't tip my hand as to what I thought of a singular auction and rule #4?

Thanks for the explanation of why the treads were deleted.

While I do feel that the AH chicklet system might warrant review to see what improvements might be made to prevent thing from running too far amok on the punitive side of things, it also seems that John was deliberately "playing" his connection with Bob Carver to cause as much drama as possible with his withdrawal from AH. I seriously suspect this was his intent when he initiated the thread.

On the positive side, we can still post any question directly on ebay!:D
I cannot delete this post, but would like to publicly retract my comment about Nooshinjohn's intent at the start of the thread. When I wrote it, the notion that the red chicklets were the big issue behind his leaving made no sense, as he had those before the "Carver" thread started.
After exchanging PM's with him, I no longer believe he had such intentions, and it would be wrong for me not to state a correction.

That's what I have been trying to say. If everyone would just take a minute to rationalize this, you would see that not only is there no member here willing/able to buy the amps linked, the amps he is building are on a much larger scale.

Big bucks.

And if the thought would lead people to believe it's a show off thing, all I see is an honest showing of passion for audio.

To me buying extreme high end amps is like buying art works or high quality furniture. As far as the electronics go it is all hypes and in some cases, BS.

The fact is, with today's technological advance, audio amplifier is a mature product, relatively simple/low tech stuff. You don't need much secret know how to build amps that can faithfully amplify audio frequency signals within the 10 to 30 kHz spectrum. Even an electronic keyboard in the right hands can easily fool us in believing it is something else. Don't get me wrong, if I have some extra cash I would quickly pull the trigger on some McIntosh tube preamp and SS power amp that I have been eying for a few years, but I would not be buying them for better SQ. In fact for accurate sound quality (faithful to the input signal) I have more faith in main stay products by Marantz, Denon, NAD, HK, Arcam etc., than in some of those Carver amps or their equivalents. The thing is, I don't even care if those things sound good to me or not, I rather listen to true hifi than the twisted sound that actually sounds good. So I am on the opposite side of those who believe in who care about specs and what not as long as it sounds good. Of course that's just me, and obviously we all have our own preferences.

Sorry about sounding extreme but I am telling what I believe.

Meh, it's hard to back someone that has, for years, been a part of a click that has talked trash about this place then all of a sudden wants to join and turn over a new leaf.

Sorry, I'm not buying it and continue to question his motives.

Why does it even matter. The amps weren't linked here for us to buy. It only takes a few minutes here to realize this crowd is not the crowd throwing that kind of coin at audio. And, John isn't either. He probably has less invested in his system than you do in yours.

But like you clearly stated here, you do have the passion for extreme high-end gear as well.;)

I pretty much look at it like talking about fine Italian sports cars we will never own. It's just fun.

Now, say for instance I just happen to know that fine sports car builder, then that would be pretty cool.

I am interested in those kind of amps too but in my case it would not be due to my passion for audio, but rather passion for collecting art works, nice toys, treasures etc. It is a bit like watches. I am interested in owning a Rolex and other nice looking high end watches, but if I need something accurate I would go for a well built and not too bad looking electronic watch.:D

Just because they are great looking, fitted with tubes and/or weigh a ton, sound good to you, does not mean they sound good to everyone, nor does it mean they will do their job accurately. On the other hand, typically the beauty, build quality and uniqueness of those products are reason enough for me to want one, or two.

I agree with you, there may be a couple of people here (I can think of one) who just might throw that kind of coin at audio but most probably won't. I have nothing against the thread and too bad it disappeared right after I posted (not sure if mine was the last one). I just want you to know that sometimes we may do the same things for different reasons. My reasons to throw the coins (if I have the extra ones) at them would not be for audio. I do realize I may be stating the obvious.:D
