Carver's pair of Black Beauties

I didn't want to mess up Nooshinjohn's thread with this so figured to start another.

So the question is how much do you think they will sell for? This is two amps with impressive pedigrees! Their collector's value may well put them beyond any price I would guess!

I'll guess $7,500 and thinking it would go higher if they allowed more than 10 days for the auction!

Take your best shot!

I am not so certain, as the last several pairs that came through stayed well below 6k. It has been some time since he has listed a pair due to reasons I cannot go into here, butI think these will touch 6000, perhaps a bit higher.
You are probably right. I had no idea of how they have been selling historically.
I went to ebay and searched for "carver black amp" and got nothing. He really should have his (and Tim's, although Carver has the big recognition power) name in the title.

In any case, they are MINE right now!:p:cool:

Hey, I need to enjoy it while I can!:D

What happened to the thread?

Come on mods, it isn't like the guy is trying to sell those amps here. I have been here. People come here for information on $300 receivers and $400-$1000 speakers. Certainly not 6k amps.

There is not 1 member here that will fork-out that kind of coin for a set of amps. Not one. And, at the rate we seem to be going, none of us are ever going to get there.

I just don't get it. The guy had us talking to Bob Carver for goodness sakes. How cool was that?

Threads deleted due to Nooshin's request. All the red chicklet and Rickster whining like a child.

It wasn't worth any effort for John to hang around. He has effectively terminated his membership here.

Just logged on, and couldn't find it. Missed the fun again I guess.

That's a shame. I think the guy received unfair treatment.

So I guess everyone wants the forum to keep more of a pace like this thread here:

Hi, I am finally setting up my ht and I need some advice. I have narrowed my receiver choices down to 2: Denon 2311CI and 3311CI. Which one would you get? My room size is 17x22. I have a 65" Panasonic VT25 3D TV. For my front speakers I have the Klipsch RF-52 II with the matching center channel (RC-52-II) and 2 RS-42 surrounds. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
We shouldn't miss-out on that fun.

No Rick, you started up about 'the rules' here. The poll was simply about a sticky with some sage advice about tubes from a master in the field.

Even though I have owned and didn't care for Carver gear the idea was pretty cool and I looked forward to it.

You're a class act as always...

Thanks for the explanation of why the treads were deleted.

While I do feel that the AH chicklet system might warrant review to see what improvements might be made to prevent thing from running too far amok on the punitive side of things, it also seems that John was deliberately "playing" his connection with Bob Carver to cause as much drama as possible with his withdrawal from AH. I seriously suspect this was his intent when he initiated the thread.

On the positive side, we can still post any question directly on ebay!:D

I wouldn't mind the drama of you having a connection with Playboy models, and deliberately connecting us with the ability to spend time with them. Or, the ability to see where the thread may go with other members.:p

I will certainly not be following the lame thread I posted above in reply #14.

I've been civil to you this entire time; it would be nice if you, as a mod, could do the same.

I voted in a poll and express a concern.
I don't know why the thread & poll were deleted.
I do know that Gene or Clint weren't around at the time.

It's also possible that he was putting an Olive branch out there only (from his POV) to have it taken out of his hand and beaten over the head with it.

So what if he had Bob Carvers ear and was willing to play it up a bit? If I had Mr. Linkwitzs' ear I would probably do same. Since when is it detrimental to have a giant in the field give up some sage wisdom here?

Sean Olive anyone?

And I bet all that were involved, or silently involved, have Bob saved on their ebay account.:(

You were being a goody two shoes IMO. I believe Clint has been around during BTW. A simple PM to him would have ended any of your uninformed conjecture.

We are talking about a single auction. Not unlike pointing people to Audiogon or other eBay auctions. Which if you would like Rick, I can go find to make my point. Do you really think I need to go do so?

You're allowed your opinion. Lord knows we've butted heads over it before.
