my car is my retreat. for the past 2 years it's been my ongoing project. no performance mods; all audio.
I've got a full build thread on DIYmobileaudio.com. I went through 5 pairs of midbasses in one month. I used 3 different sets of tweeters & midranges in a year. Finally settled on scanspeak and am now finally happy with everything. Car audio is a beast. But, through it all, I've learned a whole lot. It's made the transition to home audio much easier as I understand the importance of driver specs, acoustical treatments, and proper implementation of DSP.
a basic rundown:
alpine headunit with processing
3-way active front stage: scanspeak revelators 7" midbass, 4" midrange, d2904 1" tweeter
alpine pdx amps all around
2 Image Dynamics IDmax12's, IB'd
tons of time in install. tons of time in tuning and still a bit everyday.
midbasses in floors, ap'd through floorboard/firewall
covered to protect from water:
subwoofer install:
midrange & tweeter in pillars
