I find this hard to beleive. But no big deal, I am on a quest for best under 300 sub. At the moment I have the JBL E250p, and on its way in about 4 days is the H100 (Dr. Hsu Acoustech), these 2 will be compared next to each other, I will keep the winner. Then will get the X-sub to compare against the winner. But I may go ahead and have all 3 here for subjective tests. Ah what the heck, you only live once.... All 3 it is... The one that is rated to hit the lowest is the H100 (24hz), however Buck PM'ed me and made a good statement, the JBL over the H100 may have a higher spl range.... We will see.

These tests may go as far as outside in a large back yard over looking a canal.
So this would be closer to anechoicly correct. However there are other houses over 150ft away, I can only do so much....
Brian did you get the H100 yet? Please post your impression of it.

Sorry, not yet... Slow shipping. It is paid for, just waiting for it...
I'm house sitting at the moment, so even when I get it, I will not be able to post on impressions right away. But I will, as soon as possible...
Yeah, I'm kinda impatient when it comes to new equipment..

I don't have any experience with subwoofers, but the frequency response graph is nothing like I would have expected.

It appears from the graph that usuable frequency for this covers a range of about 3Hz and that range shifts based upon SPL level. It appears good from 25 to 28 Hz at 92db and that is being generous.

Looks like crap to me. What am I missing?

I always wondered why it was so hard to get bookshelf speakers to integrate well with a subwoofer for music. For example, looking at the Ascend CBM 170
http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/cbm170/cbm170meas.html

at 15 degrees off-axis and 100db this speaker starts falling off at about 150Hz. Although it is rated down to 69Hz +/- 3db.

I have an hypothesis going that towers are the only way for music. Unless, I am missing something, these two graphs provide plenty of evidence in support of that hyposthesis. How is one suppossed to hear a 60Hz kick drum?

It's not a plot of the FR. It is a single frequency and the harmonic.

Good floorstanders are best for music, but those Ascend's would work well with a pair of good subs.
