I had the opportunity today to bring some LP's to
@TLS Guy 's place . The Marantz AV10 makes his system even better than ever. The clarity, the instrument separation and detail is beyond what you would even hope for. We played Paul Clark's "Another Victim", Daniel Amos' "The Unatainable Earth", Moody Blues "Question", James Vincent "What Does it Profit a Man?" and "Resistance", The Beatles "Ticket to Ride" from the 2014 Mono Box Set and lastly on CD: Adam Again's "Homeboys" and "The Fine Line". He said of all the stuff I brought over, the James Vincent album sounded the best and that the mixing and mastering engineers knew what the heck they were doing. Abraham Laboriel’s bass on the Paul Clark album never sounded better. He also played some of his music. One was a concerto by Handel on a 10" record that sounded great too. That was the one he said was the first record he ever bought. It sounded way better than a record from the 50’s that was owned by a kid (Mark himself! Ha) Adam Again's "The Fine Line" had so much bass you could practically feel your chest vibrate and this system has no subwoofers! I brought over stuff I am very familiar with, having played it all for decades, but this was a new experience to hear it on his system. I also brought over a 1970’s Japanese stereo pressing of “Beatles for Sale” that I wanted him to confirm if it was as good I thought it was. In Mark’s opinion, it was in basically perfect condition and sounded perfect, not showing any wear and tear in the sound. His system will definitely reveal details. It is quite the treat to hear his incredible system and he always lets you take the primo seat in the room! I hope some of you guys get a chance to hear it too. I recommend you play “Question” by The Moody Blues. It may change your life. Just kidding. But you'll never forget it, I promise you that.
