For the same price as the Marantz, the Oppo 103D (Darbee Edition) has better video processing, period!

That's the Oppo I was looking at, does the Darbee version look that much better?

Haven't compared them myself, but I would say it is not that huge difference as UD5007 has amazing picture as well. If they are at same price I would say it is pretty 50/50. For me UD5007 was 200€ cheaper so I had no reason to get it.

I think there was a thread or article on AH that touted the advantages of the Darbee upgrade.

Simply put, I have no reason to doubt the Marantz, other than there is absolutely no information, much less marketing, to be found about how superb the video playback is on the Marantz. It really seems like a hole in one for them to add extra SKU's for people already decided on a pre/pro or AVR. "Look, they match!"

Just a natural born skeptic! And I speak for the BDP-93, I've tried it on multiple TVs and it alone is a night and day difference. The 103 is the current model, probably a few upgrades. And then the 103D just adds to it.

The turbo drive appears to be the same one being marketed as the Ultimax from parts express. If so, it is an excellent driver in every respect.

With the death of the 2nd MFW in a week (what the heck!!) the new Blu-ray is on hold, I am also going to installed surround back speakers and front height speakers first as well as upgrade the MFW's. All this depends on what the wife wants, any time I spend money, it costs me twice as much.

I always liked Oppo, the 103D is on the top of the list when I get the money.
