This was back before they were sold. They were still a local Canadian company from Quebec.

If you get your order in before the 31st, you still get your 20 year warranty. :) Was kind of bummed too about it.

Well this sucks. I was also considering Bryston as a retirement gift for myself in a few years and the 20 year warranty was a selling point for sure. Can’t see myself paying the premium now if the warranty is basically in line with competing products.

I assume they’ve done the math but it really seems hard to believe that the additional warranty claims are costing them more than the profits they’ll forgo from people choosing not to buy them because of the warranty changes. Seems pretty short sighted for a brand selling a boutique product at a time when money is already tight for allot of people. The warranty was a huge differentiating factor that they’ve now seemingly cast aside and invited allot more competition for cross shopping. Bizarre strategy for sure.

Now or never to buy my Bryston Class D lol :) If not for my upcoming purchase, I probably would consider it.

It could be worse. When I bought my Classe' amps back in 1998, they came with a lifetime warranty. Then I received a notification from the manufacturer that the lifetime warranty had been reduced to only 5 years. Gee, thanks! /sarc
I know the company was sold. Can the new owner legally do that? I would like to see someone sue them should one of their amps become defective.
Yeah, I’m not a lawyer, but that seems like violating the original warranty contract. So it would be interesting to see someone sue them. :D

Unless there was a clause/addendum in the original contract stating the Lifetime warranty would be nullified if they sold the company.

To me the 20YR warranty was the salient factor that puts Bryston above all others as “Legendary”. Without the 20YR warranty, I just don’t think Bryston will ever be the same.

Even as a dealer (which gets me discounts on Bryston), I would have never even bought my two Bryston 9B-cubed-5Ch amps if Bryston only had a 10YR warranty, which isn’t many more than ATI’s 7YR warranty. The 20YR warranty was what made Bryston legendary to me and it was the salient buying factor to me.

If they don't reduce the price of their amps, the a amount of sales will definitely go down. That's all they deserve.

Many amps including some new Class D amps that cost a lot less and perform just as well will replace them.
Yeah. I can’t blame anyone for feeling the same. I am very disappointed.

Agreed. The other thing for me was supporting a Canadian brand, but there comes a point where the price differential is just too great unless you’re getting something significant in return.

More bad news from Bryston. Now the class D Bryston amps only have a 5YR warranty. Initially when I spoke to James Tanner, the Bryston Class D had a 20YR warranty. Now the class D has a 5YR warranty and the class AB has a 10YR.

ATI has a 7YR warranty on their class D amps for comparison and keeping scores. :D

If I were filthy rich and starting an amp company, I would contract ATI to build my amps like Mark Levinson amps, except offer a real lifetime warranty (not a fake one like Classe :D) to the original owner. The Amps would cost like Bryston and McIntosh amps, but it would be legendary for the lifetime warranty. :D

Or you could just buy some Trinnov Amps. Some of the best Class D on the market! ;)

How are Trinnov Amps some of the best amps? And at what cost? Trinnov amps have a 5YR warranty like Bryston, which is not even as good as ATI's 7YR warranty.

Trinnov 200x8 amp is $16K w/ 5YR warranty, which is ridiculous for $16K. It's not any better than any other 200W amps.

Here comes your Trinnov hate.....Hahaha!!

Trinnov Amplitude Amp uses the Hypex NCore NC1200 module. 8x225w at 8ohm, 8x375 at 4ohm and 8x500 at 2ohm.

Or you can go with the Amplitude 16 ICEpower Amp. All 16 channels will give you 200w at 8ohm. You can also Bridge them and go down to an 8 channel and give yourself 800w per channel at 8ohm. Unbridged at 4ohm is 400w, Bridged it's 1000w at 4ohm.

Both very nice amps. Those that have them or have tested them absolutely love them! I can imagine people that drop that kind of money on them, have had other more expensive amps in their theaters or 2ch setups before the Trinnov's. So, I trust those kinds of reviews/feedback. :)
