i was at the gap in the mall waiting around while my wife was trying on some maternity clothes, as i am am sitting there in the waiting room there was a speaker set up right above and all i heard was high high highs and low range only, there was no mid range what so ever. dont get me wrong if someone gave them to me i would take them, but I WOULD THEN SELL THEM. they have their place in the market for the joe who just wants something out of the box and wants to pay for something overpriced.

Yes, unless people enjoy frequency gaps and early roll-off on speakers they should get something other than Bose, because their is no advantage (unless you want to buy Bose to brag about it).

Bose® CineMate™ MSRP $499.

What is it?: powered sub/sat. sub has 5" driver, satellites has 2" drivers. DVD (or anything with RCA outputs) player plugs into sub, speakers connect to sub.

So basically you're paying $500 for a set of computer speakers. This One cost $99 and will sound better. :p

You can't convince the "general public" that Bose is crap no matter how hard you try. Not even if you did a A/B comparison test.
They have been brainwashed.

They don't even believe that Hi-Def is that much better than SD.
They think that MP3 sounds just as good as PCM 2-Channel.
They think that Bose is the speaker elite.

You can't convince them that Bose is crap.
They have already been brainwashed.

Jeez, thanks.
I'm a poet and don't even know it.:D

I've had my shares of trying to convince a few people about Bose's lack of musicality. Failed miserably.

It's so true... I was in the Magnolia section at BB the other day and the Magnolia person was helping a guy in the regular section who wanted Bose 201's. She said he should take a look at some of the Mirage, DefTech, and Klipsch as those are superior speakers. He said his friend has 201's and they sound good to him. She asked if he compared them to anything else. His reply, no because the Bose sound good to him. I suppose KFC chicken is good if it's the only chicken you've every tasted. People are dense. We in this forum aren't guilty of buying crappy Bose speakers, but I'm sure if we dig into our lives, we'll find we're all guilty somewhere.

That's how we get better---learn from our mistakes.
I've bought Bose too in my very young days.:D

I can see why a customer would be reluctant to listen to a SALES person. Customers think that SALES people are trying to rip them off by getting them to spend on more expensive products.

But it's sad when they don't even want to listen to a fellow customer.

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllll, BOSE systems in automobiles are an entierly different animal.
They sound GREAT. Right up there with Nakamichi and Mark Levinson. I mean with all that road, tire, and wind noise (not to mention kids noise), what's the difference?:D

Kids? What is a kid? My Z even has a 8'' woofer behind the driver seat; I think I heard it one time but it's difficult to tell as the Z has more road noice than anything in the world. My wifes Pathfinder has a woofer too...it says so right in the owners manual...:p

This BOSE argument intrigues me... I've read probably hundreds of posts concerning the topic and I'm still fascinated. Will somebody please concede that there must be some audible qualities to these lacking setups. I went to best buy today just to have another listen. Music really does suck. Granted.. I was however "surprised" by movie reproduction. Well, reproduction is a stretch, but I was honestly amazed by the movement and dynamics the speakers created... Again, Granted the sound wasnt very good, but it did create some wow factor other "bargain" systems had a hard time replicating. Those bargain systems did produce a fuller, more lifelike sound, but didnt have the Movement around the room. (This due mostly to lack of midrange, the extreme amount of high freq sounds really catch your attention from different areas of the room)

Its almost like that first time you get surround sound and you turn the surround channels up to the max just to impress your friends and you forget about SQ.... Know what i'm talking about? Thats BOSE in a nutshell. Point is, there are some people that see "REAL" value in a bose system even beyond setup convenience. Who cares that the sound is bad when its different and almost interesting?

How many times have you seen somebody UPGRADE to BOSE? Doesnt happen. They wont like it after something else has been in their home, but a new guy will actually find them quite pleasing. Beyond marketing, I really can understand why an untrained ear would lean towards BOSE after listening to everything at BB. Overpriced? They are selling arent they? Good Value? BOSE Customers are pretty happy arent they?

I like the post earlier about everybody being guilty at some point. I'm a serious golfer. I know who makes good what and who doesnt for every component. I've worked on the OEM side and see similarities every day. Callaway Golf might be a better marketing company than BOSE. How many of you that are golfers have a Callaway club in your bag simply because you dont know any better. How many of you have MOEN or Kohler Fixtures in your home? I understand that this is an "audio" forum and thats why BOSE is the at the forefront of the bashings, but it most certainly stems from a "love to hate" based on principal and audiophile bandwagon more so than personal experience in most cases... Am I right? How many of you would like to be a sales rep for BOSE, one of the hardest sales jobs to get, period...?

I have 10 Callaway clubs and 6 MOEN faucets but I dont undrerstand your point...

All I can say is, WOW. Theres actually people out there that dislike Bose as much as I dislike Sony because of their sales practices versus quality on the majority of their products.
