This BOSE argument intrigues me... I've read probably hundreds of posts concerning the topic and I'm still fascinated. Will somebody please concede that there must be some audible qualities to these lacking setups. I went to best buy today just to have another listen. Music really does suck. Granted.. I was however "surprised" by movie reproduction. Well, reproduction is a stretch, but I was honestly amazed by the movement and dynamics the speakers created... Again, Granted the sound wasnt very good, but it did create some wow factor other "bargain" systems had a hard time replicating. Those bargain systems did produce a fuller, more lifelike sound, but didnt have the Movement around the room. (This due mostly to lack of midrange, the extreme amount of high freq sounds really catch your attention from different areas of the room)
Its almost like that first time you get surround sound and you turn the surround channels up to the max just to impress your friends and you forget about SQ.... Know what i'm talking about? Thats BOSE in a nutshell. Point is, there are some people that see "REAL" value in a bose system even beyond setup convenience. Who cares that the sound is bad when its different and almost interesting?
How many times have you seen somebody UPGRADE to BOSE? Doesnt happen. They wont like it after something else has been in their home, but a new guy will actually find them quite pleasing. Beyond marketing, I really can understand why an untrained ear would lean towards BOSE after listening to everything at BB. Overpriced? They are selling arent they? Good Value? BOSE Customers are pretty happy arent they?
I like the post earlier about everybody being guilty at some point. I'm a serious golfer. I know who makes good what and who doesnt for every component. I've worked on the OEM side and see similarities every day. Callaway Golf might be a better marketing company than BOSE. How many of you that are golfers have a Callaway club in your bag simply because you dont know any better. How many of you have MOEN or Kohler Fixtures in your home? I understand that this is an "audio" forum and thats why BOSE is the at the forefront of the bashings, but it most certainly stems from a "love to hate" based on principal and audiophile bandwagon more so than personal experience in most cases... Am I right? How many of you would like to be a sales rep for BOSE, one of the hardest sales jobs to get, period...?
