I am so glad I ran across this post. I get so sick of hearing about BOSE crap.
It is overpriced junk. I have had an all Paradigm system for 2 years now. I just recently inhereted a BOSE system. My uncle passed on and wanted his home theater to go to me. He purchased BOSE then listened to my Paradigm system and regreted every penny he spent on his BOSE.
I will admit that BOSE sounds pretty good with movies, but how can anyone compare them to Paradigm or anyother midfi speaker. Like I said BOSE is decent at most when watching movies. There is no comparison to Paradigms when listening to music.

But then again I guess it is a matter of preference. The bass is the best thing about a BOSE system.

BOSE is another shining example of what Marketing can do.

I just wonder how long it's going to take for some of these "high praises" from Audioholics.com to make it into some of Bose's marketing materials...:)

They will probably have Greg or Clint endorsing them.
When did Greg join our staff? :)

We would be the most surprised people in the world if they submitted products to us for review. We'd be fair, but I don't think they really want measurements and such to show up in reviews.

FOR SALE. I'm selling my Paradigm speakers.

I would prefer exchanging them for the latest Bose cubes. My WAF doesn't like the S8, she wants those "cute little cubes" like her bestfriend just bought, that are "the best out there"...

I would exchange my S8 for those, or any serious offer...

:D

I'll give you $2 for those S8's. I could use the wood for some more shelving in my garage.

Nah, not when making fun of Blose.

Can you believe they are still stelling these things? What a bargain! Notice how the specs only show the size and not freq. response or power handling. Guess that doesn't matter when they are Blose. I am trading my entire Polk 7.1 setup for 5 of them. They are so contemporary looking, expecially in brown. The WAF will faint when she sees them.

My dad bought the BOSE noise cancelling headphones and was really happy with them. . . . until I let him listen to my Sennehiser PXC250's. The look on his face when I put them on him was priceless. He was sooo pissed, he wanted to return his BOSE headphones right away. Since then, everytime we pass the BOSE store in the mall, he gives them the finger.

Sir, you need to hear four 901's paralleled and positioned correctly with one Bose equalizer that comes with a pair of 901's between the pre-amp and amp with another Bose 901 equalizer on a tape monitor....getting kicked by serious watts....live presence to burn....do they still sell 901's with an included equalizer?......

Sennehiser = greatest of all headphones. Bose = the suck.

What about the Bose Wave music system?
Is there anything else portable like this out there that compares with it?

Personally, I'd accept any BOSE system as a gift or donation.
.

.
.
Then I can ebay it to a stupid person, and buy a real system.

I have a $19 Timex bedside radio alarm clock that will kick that Bose's butt.

Nothing wrong with Bose, except people in the know realize they are more about marketing than quality. They overprice the equipment due to all the advertising they do. They just don't do much advertising in the higher end audio mags because they know there's better stuff out there for less money. Kind of like a Kirby Sweeper compared to a Hoover Windtunnel. Both are good, but one costs $900 and the other $275. My sister's inlaws bought them a wave radio. I thought is sounded like utter crap, but to my sister, who is not into audio, thought is sounded much better than her Emerson stereo clock radio. What can I say? Bose found a market and is capitalizing on it and doing pretty darn good.

.....I couldn't agree more on the Wave radio.....bass my butt....I ordered one and was going to give it to my ex Mother in Law, and I sent it back for the one that runs about 1200....I sent it back too....901's are different.....

If the 901's are that special why do you need equalizers & a tape monitor(?) to make them sound good????

I guess if you "treat" any speaker enough it'll sound decent...........

They aren't. I do not know why mulester7 praises these speakers when the rest of the audio industry thinks they are a joke.
