I am looking at purchasing a new Theater setup.

I have settled on
Yamaha RXV-659 Receiver
Panasonic TH-50PX60U 50" plasma TV
And am going to be getting the Axiom speakers.

I am just curious if the diffrence between the floorstanding M50's Epic Home Theater set, and the bookshelf M22's Epic Grand Master 175.. I have the space to place some floorstanding, but am not sure if they are the right upgrade. My room is designed that I really dont know were to place the 2 additional speakers for 7.1 so I am considering just doing 5.1 setup.

What would you all reccomend, or do you think about the 2 types of speakers from axiom.

My viewing room is 16 x 18.
Also, in this should I upgrade my Center Channel speaker? from VP100 to the VP150.

Thanks

If you have the space for floorstanders and you don't mind taking it up with speaker, go for those.

As tubes mentioned, if you have the space to accommodate floor standing mains, my preference would be for them as opposed to bookshelf speakers. Having said that, I would consider the M60s instead of the M50s as I don't think the difference between the M22s and M50s would be worth the money, whereas the jump to the M60s would warrant it.

The room dimension-wise from what you noted should be plenty of room for larger mains, so again, if you can afford it and you like floor standers, I'd suggest them.

One other option if funds are a consideration, you may want to go with M22s or M3s for mains for now, then when you move from 5.1 to 7.1 (assuming you do), you can always move the 22s or 3s to surround or rear surround duty and replace them with larger mains.... -TD
