Evening everyone, been a while since I posted but curious on recommendations for a good set of earbuds. I really only listen to heavy metal (Lorna Shore, slaughter to prevail ect) looking for good set of buds to use for this type of music. I mainly play music from Apple Music, YouTube. I use an old ipod, the last version made or my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The two that I am currently researching are the following but definitely would enjoy thoroughly the import from you all that do this everyday and have made a researched science of choosing the best.

Also open for suggestions on a designated portable music device to pair with these that would allow me to stream my spole music or download songs and play without internet or wifi access. Maybe i should stick with what i have but im sure there are better portables out there than the old ass ipod or my phone for the best listening experience. Any recommendations or suggestions of another options would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly in advance for your help and time.

Listening to the Sonys now with my usual diet of rock and metal. They’re certainly pleasant enough to my ears, but I doubt the Technics would disappoint either. You can find a bit of info on both earbuds on rtings if you haven’t seen their analysis. They mention the Sony’s memory foam tips, and I do personally like the fit, though YMMV there.

As far as the source goes, there’s probably not a lot of real room for sound quality improvement unless maybe you went for high definition files, and even then I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for night and day differences. As convenience goes, a phone is pretty hard to beat.
