A lot of window shopping and a lot of questions here too. Just wish we had a good place nearby to audition speakers. Thanks for all the help.
You really should get out and listen to as much as you can...but I know for some it is not very easy.

You are getting a lot of opinions, and what I have found out in my various listening (I think most that have done a lot of listening are in the same boat), is that you find some recommendations surprising because taste and preferences vary widely.

Here is another thought that I can throw out there in the sound that I am looking for... MY Beyerdynamic T1 headphone is a great example..If I can get a book shelf that is this clear and use a sub for the low end this would be perfect....
If you want a speaker with headphone clarity, Wavetouch Grand Teton v2 is only speaker under $20k. Read thread here AH forum "Standmounts $2K, $4K, $6K: Home Audition WaveTouch, Salk Silk, B&W CM5, Totem Element Fire"

Edit: Grand Teton speaker is selling at $800/pair. (Best book shelf for under a grand?)

So, have you now decided to stop looking at towers - and you are now seeking bookshelf speakers?

The best will be, what is best for you - for the towers you were looking at Monitor Audio Silver, and
KEF speakers.

Do you have a way to audition speakers? However, due to the subjective nature of the Audio World
and different human personalities, maybe there is a small chance of a narrow list.:)
Right? I mean, Google could give him the answer he's looking for, if he phrases his search terms correctly. :)

Correct did this too. Is there an issue asking direct from a source of enthusiast? I like it here and get good feedback. Negative and positive..

Nothing wrong with it . It just looks like you're getting into some analysis paralysis, that's all. :)

Asking more questions won't help at that point, ya know?:)

Went with the new Ascend Acoustic 2's. More money then I wanted to spend but you know how it goes...

A wise man once told me "if you buy the best, boy, you cry only once!" There's a lot of truth there. :)

One thing keeping me from pushing the purchase button... I keep reading so much good stuff on the Dynaudio Excite 12. I can save 484.00 dollars buy getting these. Are the Ascends better. Most likely.. Who knows. The Epos Elan 10 is a savings of 600.... Really hard to spend almost 1500 when 1000 will be fulfilling.. Again. Reading to much is causing harm.:D
One thing I really like so far with Ascend. I have spoken with them a few times and I really like the personal touch service.

I know Dave recomended the Sanus SF series for the Sierra monitors...I had used the SF26...they're solid and very well built. If you want to go fancier thats up to you...IIRC....over at the Ascend forum one of the members....builds & sells custom stands for Sierras...I'd have to dig him up and its late...maybe give Ascend a call to see if they are aware of his services & likely refer you to him via PM.

Worth a try..I know he posted pics of his work over at theAscend forum...I thought it was very nice...:)

In my opinion VTI stands are much nicer than the Sanus stuff. I've used both the DF and the VSP models (currently using the VSP); the VSP is worth the extra money.
