Guys, If I want to use an ep2500 to power a couple tower speaker and use a new Pioneer 819 (BTW, at around $260 is this reciever the best receiver for the buck?) as my Pre amp am I going to need a line leveler? WmAx I think recommended another product from Behringer to accomplish that. Was it the EURORACK PRO RX1602?

Also, it seems everyone is getting RCA to XLR is that necassary to get the best performance and if so, why?

Beside the fan mod, line leveler and rca to xlr cables is there anything I'm missing for a proper ep2500 setup?

Sorry for all the questions, but I appreciate the help!
the EP2500 only has XLR inputs or the guitar cable type plug.. so unless you have XLR outputs on your AVR you need rca to XLR

Not sure what you need a eurorack Pro RX1602 for.

For a 2 channels setup I do suggest a Behringer Feedback Destroyer for eqing your system.

For a 2 channel setup I'd also not suggest a 300 dollar home theater receiver.

I would think the behringer mx883 may be good for converting -10db to +4 instead of a cleanbox or samson s convert any opinions?
from the specs
Usable as 6 in/6 out level matching amplifier or direct inject box
Converts levels between -10 dBV and +4 dBu

As far as using a $300 home theater receiver for a pre-amp for an audiophile 2 channel set up, my thought on this is that I could kill 2 birds with one stone. I could have my HDMI DTS MASTER HD and DOLBY TRUE HD for Blu-ray movies and with the behringer ep 2500 I could have the power that I need for 2 channel awesomeness. Is this not a good plan for getting the most out of 2 channel along with having home theater?
If you can convince me to go strictly 2 channel with the ep 2500, then what would recommend to use as a pre amp for outstanding price to performance ratio (like the ep2500)? BTW I will be powering a couple Vandersteen 2ces.

Thanks!

pre pro for ep4000

Any recommendations for pre pro for Behringer EP4000s going to Tannoy Precision 6s (front and rear pair, and center)?? Roughly a $1,000 budget. Thanks.

Well, you will need to get a Samson S-Convert module for every two channels. This cleanly converts the voltage ranges from the consumer gear to pro level voltage range for the pro-amp. That Art Cleanbox is also a good unit, but the Art has some LF roll off under 30Hz. The S-Convert has a more extended LF response, and that is why I recommend it over the Art unit.

If you use a Behringer DCX2496 processor, you will not need the conversion boxes, as the DCX does the conversion for you. As the DCX is a very powerful processor that you will have many uses for to increase SQ and to other things, like add subs transparently and do many various response corrections/modifications, then maybe just go ahead and get the DCX. :)

Thanks. I'm all new to HT, and am 'amped' about using pro amps for it. So if get the DCX2496 as the processor, and I use two EP 4000s for a front and rear pair, a sub with it's own amp, and a EP2000 or 4000 for the center channel, what else do I need??

Any input appreciated. I have about $2500 budget for speakers (front and rear pair, and center) if I want to make an upgrade there. Any recommendations?

ear plugs!

unless your rears are the same size as your mains (and you listen to multichannel music), i don't think you need that big of an amp for the rears.

also note that the DCX2496 can only take 3 inputs, so it's perfect for the Left, Center and Right. You would need another one to control the rears (if you wish to use said amps for your rears)

i'd recommend amping the front three channels using the EP4000 and something smaller for the rears (or maybe just your receivers powering them) then use the savings to add to your main speakers and/or subwoofer.

i'm considering this amp for my HT setup, I already have 4 behringer A500's in my HT ...

but the EP2500 has more power, stabler to lower ohms and cheaper than 2 A500's ... the downside: the fan.

I have some questions for the guys here who have the EP2500 ...

1) how noisy is the fan? my research online has rated it between "niagara falls" and "just as noisy as a ps3" (which I have in the same setup)
-it will be about 1 meter away from me but shares the same rack as the ps3 and projector (both with fans that I can't hear) besides the fact that I have an ACU behind me as well.

2) if fan noise is negligible, what about the complaints that instead of blowing front to back (like other pro amps), this unit blows back to front and the filter up front becomes a dust collection bin ... comments?

3) anybody know of tests done on the EP2500 regarding it's power rating? (a power cube test like that was done on the a500 would be great)

4) does this amp sound the same as the a500? (meaning, is it designed just as well as the a500, differences being this one is class h)

5) anybody know how many mf capacitance this unit has?

thanks in advance
I have this amp and a PS3, the amp fan is twice as loud as the PS3.
