But their response curve doesn't actually look like a loudness curve. It's just one big peak here and another big peak there, and then really random off axis response that makes no sense.
That's correct; I was just using the elevated bass and treble of loudness circuits as an analogy. Still, my comments basically stand, technicolor sound that eventually wears thin.

It would be nice, however, to see what that diamond tweeter could do in the hands of the right designer.

My wife thinks all speakers are red. :D
That's something like what John Heinricy said about Corvettes during the C5 development program in the mid-1990s. "All Corvettes are red. The rest are mistakes." Heinricy's statement, spoken in frustration during a color selection meeting in GM, became the title for possibly the best book ever written to document a corporate product development program, "All Corvettes are Red", by James Schefter. Schefter's book described the excruciating process that often takes place in large US companies with amazing accuracy. This is really grossly off-topic, but the book is a great read, even if you're not a Corvette fan.

I still think you should get Salk Sound to do a Soundscape 8, but get em built to look like the B&Ws.
It would sound just like the Phil3.:D

Already have beryllium, titanium, aluminum, magnesium, paper, carbon fiber.

I want some diamonds.......made with volcanic temperature ........exotic.

And bulletproof Kevlar. :D

And aircraft foam plastic.

It would have to be the Salon2 because I think it has the best overall balance of everything - SQ, dynamics, aesthetic, measurements, professional reviews, etc.

That is a fine looking speaker. I have not looked into those too much wow, my kind of speaker look. Do you use a sub with them?

ADTG, I don't get it - you already said Phil3 sound better... Why on earth to pay over 10k on speakers which are almost as good as Phil3 ???:confused:

You want to spend more money? Why not do really amazing HT room - I mean pull all stops and do maybe themed HT ??

Everyone has different ideas for sure. And they're all good ideas.

I would love to build a new custom house. And the custom HT room would be part of the total cost of the house, not out of my speakers budget! :D

But I will say this. If I get the 802D, it will be the last expensive gear I will buy. No joke.

I may still replace the P362 with some higher dollar speakers, though. But they won't be more than $2K. :D

"And this time...I mean it."

:D
Yes. I mean it. :D

There are so many speakers out there. So many great ones. The three I always wanted are Revel, KEF, & B&W.

The Orion & Philharmonic are superb. But are "unplanned" purchases. I'm glad I bought them. :D

The B&W threw me for a loop after my first audition. The measurements didn't help the case. But it's like they say - measurements aren't always everything. I'm not a robot.....I have emotions.....sorry, that song got into my head.

And this time......I mean it....about the 802D being the last expensive speaker I will buy. :D

Get you something that can be a conversation piece
, forget this expensive stuff, your getting old and your hearing will start to fail so build a house for the retirement years, it's cheaper in the long run with multiple sound rooms with treated walls, ceilings and floors
