Axiom Outdoor Speakers

I just looked at the Axiom website and they now have "Algonquin outdoor speakers." I know these are a new speaker just introduced by Axiom and was wondering if anyone has heard them. I'm looking for an outdoor speaker for the hot tub and looking to compare the axiom with the polk outdoor speaker. While I generally learn toward axiom over polk, I am also open to any other recommendations. Any thoughts & comments are welcome!

if you are looking to use your single polk than i would recommend getting another polk, but if you are getting rid i would recommend getting the pair of axioms

The Axioms look nice and should sound just like the indoor version of the M3's. They are a little spendy for outdoor speakers and don't include mounting brackets. When you are in the spa w/ the jets running, a $150/pair of outdoor speakers would probably sound just as good as the Axioms.

I respectfully disagree. Good luck finding a pair of $150 pair of outdoor speakers sounding even remotely close to the Axioms M3s.

I am sure the Axioms sound great, but you missed the point. Outside in the spa there is a much higher noise floor than a treated HT or music room.

This is true, however, this doesn't mean those $150 bookshelves can compete with the Axioms.

I use 50 dollar Dual speakers for outside and they sound fine for outside speakers.

I guess the point of my post was to see if the axiom's would be a value in the great outdoors. I have heard the polk atrium 45's at a friend's house and they sounded good in the open air - ableit a little lacking in the base but then I'm used to a full range speaker sound.
The difficult decision is the age old "bang for the buck" question. The polk 45 sells around $119/pair and the axioms are quite spendy for the application. I love the axioms indoors but I'm convinced the price warrants the application. Anyone have any first hand experience with either brand? Thanks for your replies!

IMHO saying axioms M3 should be as good as some $150 speaker is just absurd. If you don't think it matters that is okay, but I find it odd that some would be so picky about indoor speakers, but willing do go 2nd rate on outdoor speaker. Makes no sense to me what so ever.

Better sound is better sound. Its okay if you don't think its important. My entire family doesn't think its important indoors or outdoors.

You are correct. To me; competing with the wind, dogs barking, neighbor mowing lawn, kids playing in the back yard and yelling is just not worth it. I like a little background music playing when I am grilling out but I just refuse to spend a lot of money on something that may sound a little better in an area where it's almost impossible to hear the difference.

Ever go to a bad concert vs. a good one? Some people like to hear more frequencies, and additionally, some speakers are more or less directional and do not throw sound in a beneficial way for outdoors.

I have a fairly quiet neighborhood so one could actually tell more of a difference perhaps, but I get your point.

Thanks. It is a silly point; I am very "picky" on sound but I also try to balance out things and only spend money on things that seem to really matter. I only run my outdoor speakers for the brief time I am cooking; this will change next summer as I have be "told" by the Wife that I will be putting a pool in. I may change my mind about using cheap outside speakers at that point...lol...

They claim they sound the same. M3 is probably axioms most popular speaker with regards to customer feed back. I'll probably be getting a pair for my bedroom one of these days.
