It sounds like the local Best Buy will deliver, no cost. (This from online chat)

Plot thickens.

The real question is: will the C3 get a further discount?
:)

You know, you could have been enjoying the thing since you started the thread on Friday.;)

I actually did rent a U-Haul cargo van to pick up the 77” C1 with some other large yard items. It was only $40 bucks and the U-Haul and Costco stores were so close to my home that I got away with no additional fuel charge.
The TV was expensive and large and required carefully orchestrated assembly. It was a long day.

The price on the TV dropped a hundred bucks after the price adjustment period. Again, I regret nothing. Some of the images on this thing have resulted in the very real dropping of my jaw. It is not without its flaws in other regards, but I forgive it everything when watching 4K HDR content and gaming in 4K HDR @120Hz.

If you get the 55 you'll spend the next few years wondering if you should have purchased the bigger set. No regrets with the 65. ;)

Yeah, I really notice when 4K content comes up. The upscaling on these sets is very good but when you hit that 4K sports channel... wow! Just have to decide if I want to pop the extra $5/m for ATMOS. Damn Netflix is only Digital+ on the standard plan.

Went to BestBuy yesterday, checked out, LG 65 B3 the 65 C3. I could not see Any difference between the two with my old eyes glasses on or off ha ha. One has the EVO thing the other doesn't. Checked out Sony 65 A80L and the 65 A75L, again Couldn't tell a difference with my old eyes.

Also checked out Sony 65 X93L and the 65 X90L. also looked really good. Have to ask you guys, just how Important the new 3.0 TV tuner are going to be? I'm really Leaning towards LG's 65 B3 price is very good on it. 1299.99.Sony's 65 A75L 200.00 more which is the Sony I will go with if the 3.0 tuner really is Going to be a big deal in the near future and a must have.

Now I did check out Hisense 65 U8K 1099.00 it looked as good as Sony's X93L and X90L. I see now why OP has that one on his list.

I was in that boat too, I wanted the 85 but got the 75. Still pleased, but now thinking I should have gone with the 85, but I would have to move things around to fit it. You get used to it and then it doesn't have that wow factor anymore lol.

More interesting and a little surprising is that Tom's says this year's best OLED is Samsung:

Samsung are really great OLED's, they still won't Incorporate Dolby Vision?

What does the 3.0 tuner do for us that older versions don't?

From what I read up on, is to do with over the air broadcasting 4K and 7.1 other than that nothing really. I have cable so it's 4K. Maybe I'm overthinking the tuner thing too much. Now that I really think about it, when watching Over the air TV which is rarely, not that much of a big deal thanks got me to thinking.

Correct. Samsung does not support Dolby Vision. They put their eggs in the HDR10+ basket.
Samsung does not also support DTS Audio

Both DV and DTS are the main formats... not the only formats... but definitely main.

I do not know, in practice, whether this choice by Samsung really has a major effect of the end user or not. That said, I won't buy Samsung right now as a personal choice. I have been very happy with my 10 and 5 year old Sonys, and the 5 year old was purchased after the DV/HRD10+ distinction came up.

Ya. I don't watch broadcast TV. Don't have cable.
Pure streaming, here.

You are smart to stay well away from Samsung TVs.

All Sony LCDs are built on Samsung panels. Sony does not manufacture their own LCD panels for TVs. When it comes to panel performance, Samsung is #1. Their products aren't always #1 though :) but that is true of all of them. I've had problems with products from all the manufacturers at one time or another.

Lack of DV hasn't been an issue for me, quality content still looks great.

I’ve had Samsung plasma and LED. No more. Their picture processing is s#%t no matter the panel type. No Dolby Vision support is a deal breaker for sure. HDR10+ content is not widespread. HDR10 does still look good. But, when I upgraded my disc player to a Dolby Vision supporting player, the difference from HDR10 to Dolby Vision was more than a little drastic and some movies suddenly came to life. This is also the case for some games.

DTS audio support is necessary only if one must connect devices directly to the TV for one reason or another and those LG TVs that do not support it can pass the audio over to the receiving end as multichannel PCM. But, DTS:X metadata is lost when doing so.

The ATSC3.0 tuner is not a deal breaker. Few are broadcasting in ATSC3.0 and most of them are doing it in 1080p with only a small fraction doing it in 4K. If streaming or cable/sat is used for TV, the ATSC3.0 tuner for OTA isn’t necessary unless you want broadcasters personalizing adds for OTA like they do for everything else. That is its main purpose.

The LG evo panels were designed for longevity more than additional picture quality. If one plans to leave the TV on for many hours a day, they want it to last a long time. If the B3 feature set is sufficient for some, they can save some money buying it if the TV isn’t going to be on for many hours a day. I think the better picture processing, additional HDMI 2.1 ports and evo panel justify the cost of the C3.

There are no OLED TVs with bad images. Some are better in some ways than others. One must balance budget with TV size and feature set for their own use case. For this particular case, I think the LG C3 65” TV is the way for @ryanosaur to go. But, that may not be the case for somebody else. Oh, and you can Screen Mirror directly to the C3 from an Apple device.;)

My issue with Samsung is not a commentary on perceived quality and I am well aware they are one of the largest suppliers of panels to other manufacturers. ;)

OLED, by definition, has a lifespan. They will dim over time; that is the nature of an Organic LED. OLED is not what you want for longevity. In those first few years, the best TVs will be unmatched in PQ. Now that everyone is doing OLED, longevity is being very much improved year over year though.

No idea why Samsung went with HDR10, but it is the same old DVD vs. DIVX, Beta vs.VHS and some MFG is going to miss out and have to switch/support it eventually.

C3 looks very impressive already, so I would say you can't go wrong with it.

*edit - I wouldn't buy Samsung washer/dryer either lol.

Everything has a lifespan. It is what it is. Every 4K HDR TV supports HDR10. It isn't going anywhere. Many also support Dolby Vision and/or HDR10+. There's also HLG. Dolby Vision is the most capable format but will not reach its full potential until 12 bit panels come around. Not supporting Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos is a financial decision more than anything else. Dolby gives nothing away.

Oof.

Might be ordering direct from LG.
10% marketing discount...
and 10% cash back from credit card offer.

gonna check and see how they deliver before pulling trigger, but that's a pre tax cost of 1296 for the 65" c3! MSRP is 2499. Going price at all the stores is 1599.
And if there is a further discount at retail stores, it likely wouldn't drop below ~1469 which was the 30% point I've seen at some amazon sellers.
