Audyssey sub settings quick questions before running

Ok, for years now I that I have been running Audyssey I ALWAYS get -12 in the Receiver for the sub and god damn it I'm determined to get some number below freaking that. I tried "lower" in the sub so the indicator is lower or to the left of the green happy spot Aydyssey wants. I tried a little higher or to the right of the green happy spot Aydyssey wants and its ALWAYS -12. My tiny brain seems to think to the higher to the right of the green happy spot Aydyssey wants is right but maybe not slightly this time but well to the right of the green happy spot Aydyssey wants. What do you think? Please lord something other than freaking -12 which I understand to be wrong. I don't care of its -11.5 just something other than -12. :D Can you feel the desperation?

Oh I'm using the Audyssey app by the way which is fantastic. Denon X3400H from quite a few years ago. RSL 12 Sub and RSL 10 sub.

Have you tried using just the avr to run Audyssey? Then just manipulate those results (if different) with the app? I have faint memories of some issues with early versions of the app in terms of levels but its been a while.

How low are you setting gain on the subs? The -12 is indicating the avr is at its limit of turning the sub level down, that it is set too high on the sub.

Yeah. The sub level is too high. Audyssey is trying to lower the db level(let’s say to -16) but -12 is as low as it goes.
In short, subs are too hot.
So you want to be to theft side of the green happy spot.
