Hey Dobyblue,

I have the Monitor 11s v.4 in my system, and have not heard the version 5's yet. I do happen to love the 4's but you are the first person I've come accross that can make a direct comparision between the Monitor 11v4 and v5.

I am very curious to know what your feedback is on the two. I can imagine that you must like the 5's since you purchased them, but did you find any noticable improvements in sound on the 11's v.5 over the v.4? I would appreciate your feedback when you get the time.
I will be listening to a number of SACD and DVD-Audio titles over the weekend and then will give you my opinion on the 11v5 vs. 11v4
I would have been more than happy to get another pair of 11v4 as I think they are a fantastic speaker, but it was $999 for a black new 11v4 and the chance to get a pair of 11v5 for $835 when they're already back up to over $1200 was an opportunity I couldn't afford to miss out on.
:)

Thanks dobyblue, I'll be looking forward to it. And yes that was one hell of a deal. Even without having heard the v5's I wouldn't have let that opportunity pass me by either. Happy listening.

I have been reading this post for a few weeks and was worried at first about a new purchase of my Studio 60 v4. I knew I liked the speakers but all the bashing about the CS concerned me. Here is the response I received from Paradigm in regard to the posts of this thread. I will leave the contact anonymous.

"Hi Don

My apologies for not answering sooner.

Paradigm has always been willing and able to provide Warranty service (as
well as non-warranty service) through our Authorized dealers.

Products purchased through an authorized Paradigm or Paradigm Reference
dealer have a valid factory Warranty and this is usually honored by any
dealer. However, although it seldom occurs, a store can have a policy that
they will not service products that they did not sell and this is fully
within their rights as an independently-owned business. In the event that
there isn't a dealer in the market area that will provide service, we
normally try to find another way to take care of a customer.

Products purchased through an unauthorized source do not carry a valid
warranty regardless of any claims made by the seller.

The person who wrote the thread chose to purchase his speakers through an
unauthorized, out-of-state, Internet company even though there were three
dealers where he lives in the Dallas area (the newest one has carried our
products for over three years) that would have gladly sold them to him.

Thanks for your interest in Paradigm speakers."

...I made my mind up after reading on and on about the CS and decided that I will take the chance with this great sound. Their response, 3 days after I emailed them the week between Christmas and New Years, was further reassurance I have made a good choice.

Cheers all

Well i'd have to agree with that but i would not be one to call the thread a lie. Merely an unmitigated falsification of veracity shall we say. Well since this will add fuel to the fire. I emailed the dealor about the whole thread and sent them the link there reply was simple logical in substance agreement with the previous post here. Personally this is not about who is wrong and who is right but sometimes you cant believe everything you read. Not that i beilieve that thread.......or totally their reply either lol.......anyway anyone has any replies on my last post???

I have not had the chance to listen to their latest version offerings but I own a pair of Monitor 3's v.4 that I bought several months ago to replace my Titans v.4.
The 3's have a much wider mid range along with a more detailed high.
I was surprised at the difference when doing side by sides in my home.
To my ears and for my purposes the 3's are ideal. They are matched with the Atoms as surrounds and a cc170 center. At the moment the 170 is the weak spot. It works well with the 3's but may not be a great match.
I was hoping to buy the cc370 at my local shop but alas I am told Paradigm no longer makes the 370. It has been replaced by the 390 which is much too large for my need and would be overwhelming for my 3's in my opinion.

Sound wise it is a wonderful speaker.

Kai, you can get the CC-190 which is actually the replacement for the CC-170and would probably be better suited for your setup, and is even better than the CC-370 you were originally looking to purchase.

My situation was completely within the parameters and requirements they, themselves have just informed you about. I was well within my warranty......not even six months in, bought from an authorized dealer in my local area.

It's easy to perceive this as trash-talk and bashing, till it happens to you. Then it suddenly becomes very serious.

Oh well. I'm just glad to have washed my hands of them.

Good luck to all you Paradigm and Anthem owners, I just hope you don't ever end up on my side of the fence, with your gear and warranty. And I mean that sincerely. Not being sarcastic.

Well all I can say is that I'm extremely happy with the Monitor 11v5.
Moving the 11v4 to the rear and adding a Servo 15v2 has given me immeasurable improvement over my previous set-up.

The v5 Monitor speakers are definitely a huge step up in the aesthetic department - it's a real nice looking floor speaker.

I set my speakers all to large for hi rez 5.1 listening and to small for 2 channel SACD so that the sub takes low duties. The 11v5 was quick, deep and controlled right out of the box. There was a noticeable difference on highs that was pleasant. I like the 11v4 reproduction of treble, but the 11v5 seemed more balanced overall.
I don't hesitate to recommend it.

Thanks for the feedback Dobyblue. I will check out the 11's v.5 now to explore making that final component switch to an all v.5 system.

Hi all,
Nelson57 you have the cc290 listed as a speaker in your set. How do you like it and what did it replace?
I am waiting for the cc290 to come in at my local shop. If it sounds as good as the specs indicate I will replace my cc170 with it.
The Atoms and Titans were part of the Performance line, now discontinued. The Atoms and Titans are now part of the Monitor line which starts with the Atom, Mini-Monitor, Titan, etc. placing the Titan over the Mini. That is a huge change for the Titan.

Kai,

I replaced the CC-370 with the CC290. My front stage became much more expansive, with a fuller, richer, more accurate sound from the center. You'll experience a much improved sound by replacing the CC-170 with the 290.
