Another fine example that embodies everything that's wrong with this country

What is starting to bother me is all the advertising I see on billboards (and now on nationwide commercials) that are in spanish or a mixture of English and spanish. The last time I checked, we still live in America, yet I have to know spanish to understand what is being advertised.

p.s. I speak spanish fluently, but it's the principle of the thing.

I also reserve the right to change my stance in regards to Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz.

I totally understand. I firmly believe that America should pick and enforce a national language to help with communication among its citizens. I don't care if people speak other languages (I would actually encourage it, as they represent history and culture), but I think that the official language should be used for business transactions and such.

I can't fault the commercial industries, though. They want to sell products, and they are smart to market them so that a wider population will be exposed. A lot of the signs here are in both languages, and so is a lot of packaging in the stores.

Any judge woth the robe they wear would throw this case out since it is a non-legal entity with no legal rights filing the suit.

We had a judge who was fired a couple years ago, because whenever he would get a mexican defendant named Jose, he would comment "Hose A, but where's Hose B and Hose C" apparantly the mexican population didn't get the joke and so had him fired. But at least that's better than another judge we had who was fired last year for using his penile pump while in court. From what I read the 'buzzing" of the machine was a distraction for the prosecutors and stenographer. :D True story.

You know people cross Kruger National Park to get to South Africa from Mozambique for a better life. If people will do that then guns aren't going to scare them. Getting eaten by a Lion is a much scarier proposal.

I heard about this Norwegian guy visiting NY and feeling very very stupid crashing straight into a glass door in an major office building. the funny thing, it only took 15 secs until the first lawyer was there suggesting to make a lawsuit, he suggested sth like $250.000 for this thing..... what the hell is wrong when things like these can happen....

Newsflash in case you skipped history class. Arizona was Mexico long before it was the US and it was Spanish long before that. We need to stop the criminals on either side of the border so people can live in peace. But instead we are involved in places on the other half of the world rather than taking care of our own backyard. What's going on on the border is very bad and is our business. I think it's time to open up a can. Honest hardworkers that just want to feed their families shouldn't need to be smuggled. They should be welcomed in. We can swap them out with some lazy people.:D

isiberian, you bring up a good point, but then remember that a almost all of the illegals coming here, don't pay taxes, refuse to follow the laws of this country, Use our resources with no intent of paying for services. And the money that they do make here is sent back to Mexico, enriching their economy and making ours suffer worse than it currently is in. In fact most come over here, work for 10 years (all under the table with no money being taken out for taxes) then they send the money home, then after 10 years they retire to live the good life back in Mexico. Now how has this benefited America in any way. In fact I read that because our economy is failing that more mexicans are staying in Mexico, which tells me that they don't have a problem using our resources when the going is good over here, but when it gets bad, they then refuse to come over.

I remember reading in the AZ Republic a few months ago about a mexican family that had to move back to Mexico because of the economy and lack of jobs and they interviewed the mother who was complaining, because in America her children got free books, free education, free food at the school and free transportation, yet was complaining because in Mexico her children got nothing and was complaining. I recall getting angry about that, because this lady thought it was all free. She didn't even consider the fact that my hard earned tax dollars were paying for her free loading kids to get all that stuff, taking away from the American born children who also needed these books, and supllies and school food vouchers.

Beyond not paying taxes, what money they do make, a good portion is sent back to Mexico.

I'm tired of the argument "they do the work that Americans won't do" or to quote the biggest idiot of them all, former Mexican President Fox..."they do the work that not even blacks will do" is just absurd. I'm sick of hearing that "we just can't get rid of them all.. they keep prices on goods low."

Let me tell you what, I had 15 palm trees put in about 3 years ago. I had 18 put in on a different property about 10 years ago... by all "white" workers. It cost me 4 times as much the 2nd time around. Granted tree may be more expensive but having a bunch Mexicans didn't lower the price any. It's just cheap labor, nothing more.

Deport 12 million and do it tomorrow. Sure, a tomato will end up costing $11. No one will buy it. Then, someone will come along and figure out how to get a tomato to market for a price people will be willing to pay and will recreate the industry. Figure in the millions upon millions we'd save by not having to print every last piece of signage in duplicate from road signs to the aisle signs in Home Depot. Think about the billions we'll save in health care and crime. The numbers have been run and even the most outspoken critics can't deny the facts, but just dismiss it and claim rights.

I wonder what would happen these people stayed in their own country and improved it.
You're a pretty smart guy and you are unable to improve Joisey! :D

They must cross that border to improve their lives.
Maybe we could give them Arizona but take Canada. :)

Kidnap him, give him the new last name of Knight, and hand him the keys to a self-aware intelligent car. After all, one man can make a difference.

[Not trying to insult the ladies - the reference just needed a man. :)]

I'd get all huffy, but let's face it - Canadians make better beer. I'm in.

I heard that 4 out of 10 drivers pulled over in Miami don't have a license.

My boss got sued by an illegal who fell on his property... frivolous lawsuit because if they are in a lawsuit then they can stay in the country until its over. What a waste of resources.

Hi Alex, NJ is a lost cause...if I were so smart... I wouldn't be here.:D

How is a poor Mexican gonna make Mexico better?
The same way people gained independence in 1776 and the way they improved our country in a Civil War; they fought for it.
They should demand of their government, the same things they demand when they come here.

They must cross that border to improve their lives.
They come here for the phenomenal exchange rate, for every $1. American dollar the get here, the get $14 Mexican dollars when they exchange them home. (Where do I sign up to get 10 to 14 times my regular pay and not pay taxes? Sign me up!)
They come here for all the free Entitlement programs, paid for on the backs of all the American Tax payers. Sounds more like Greed to me...:(

Just so there is no confusion - I'm 100% all for Legal Immigration.

Here's another story for the fire:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/02/10/immigrants.economy/index.html

Studies have been done on illegals and taxes and it turns out that taxes paid by illegals outweighs their consumption. How these calculations were made I'm not sure and it's very possible the people doing them don't understand the scope of the problem so I take them with a pretty big grain of salt.

That said, I feel illegals have no rights. I don't care Geneva this and that crap. You step on my property and you're illegal, you're going to take a bullet as I'm not taking any chances with my property or family. I would rather be jailed than take a risk determined by some bureaucrat somewhere. If it were up to me, I'd model how Constantinople was built. Setup a series of walls and have laser-tracking machine guns on the final wall blast anyone who actually makes it to within 10 feet of the final wall. I mean, what the hell. I'm an American and can be shot dead if I come within so many miles of area 51.

I was thinking the same thing; set up robot sentry guns, like in Aliens. But I wouldn't want to shoot any defenseless animals. How could you set up the guns to be able to distinguish between a person and a deer?
