Hello,

I am currently powering a 3.1 system using my Denon X-2700H receiver but i would like to see what i can do to open the speakers up a bit with a modest budget. i am currently looking at three amp options to power the Revel F35s. i will leave the center speaker on the receiver for now.

Emotiva BasX A2 - looks to have enough power reserve for powerful passages and movies
Niles SI-2100 - same as above in a smaller form factor. plus i can buy a second and bridge if needed
Crown XLS 1002 - Lots of power for little money. i know i couldnt run that much through my current speakers but seems it could be used as i upgrade speakers.

Any advice on these amps or recommendations within that price range

You can't add a amp to that AVR it has No preamp outs. It has only zone and sub out.

I havent looked at the back in so long i didnt even think about that. thanks
Maybe a upgrade is in order? 3700H maybe? Nothing wrong with a new AVR, sell off the 2700, or put it in your bedroom. Or sell it off on eBay.

Your Revel F35s are reported to have a sensitivity of 90 dB.

The Denon AVR-X2700H with a rated power output of over 120 watts per channel for a 6 ohm load. However, those Revel speakers have an impedance going down to 3.5 ohms at around 185 Hz. Depending on the volume at which you play your music, it's quite possible that your receiver is struggling to drive them. If so, you would need to replace the X2700 receiver with one that has pre-outs for driving external amplifiers.

As for external amplification, I would strongly recommend the Monolith 3 channel power amp, or one of the newer generation Class D products, either Buckeye or VTV amps..

Here is a link to help you determine how much amp power you need to drive the Revels at your desired SPL:
