Why towers? How about a set of Sierra 1's with the matching center and a set of stands, rite now they have a set of piano black Bstock all 3 speakers for under $1200 {still has the 7 year warranty} then get a nice set of stands, there are some awesome stands out there....

But if you are crossing to a sub, and pushing 100watts per channel of say 100hz+ the sierra ones will do that with IMO a better sound than a tower... I noticed when I went to a tower I liked the sound of a tighter cabinet, I finally found the 340's and the matching stands {look like towers, but really a large bookshelf} and I am happy with the sound.. Not sure why bookshelfs sound better but to me they do, I was told it has to do with the cabinet space and resonance, all of which I haven't a clue, just know that if you dont need low response because you have a sub, then you can get a higher end bookshelf and your money is going to what you want... In other words a $1000 pair of bookshelfs and a sub sound better than a $2000 pair of towers {to me, we are all different...}
good luck...
