Run the setup for Natural, Flat and then save each one into memory as you go. That way you can switch between and see which one you like if either. You have 3 or 4 memory presets you can save. First run let it check everything but i would tell it to ignore speaker size. Set that manually.

After all these years, the size is finally going to be considered "large" ... and you want him to actually admit that it's "small?" Let him enjoy the moment for a little while, at least. :D

I just set it to 'Natural' and after the first completely auto deal went back and set the size to small and cross at 80Hz. YPAO thinks my little BR-1's are good to 40Hz. I'm flattered but as Adam well knows the small descriptor is more appropriate. For some reason it reversed the polarity on my subs both times.

I'm pretty much all set for now. Later I may mess with the other options and memory settings but this is sounding very good. That Wallflowers tune was used to determine that some Martin Logan Vantage speakers were the best in a Magnolia line up and I know what I'm looking for. YPAO reigned in my subs to where they are about -12 db below the BR-1's and I got to see the little lines representing the EQ'ing placed on them.

So ... the bass is no longer the 400lb gorilla ... until it needs to be. :) Davemcc's favorite demo tool on BIA (track 3's acoustic guitar) has a nice full bodied sound with an appropriate linger/hang that you would expect. My ultimate favorite test with Money for Nothing does all the normal stuff well enough and has improved distinction of lead and back up vocals sung by Mark Knoffler and Sting. At least I think I am listening to the auto EQ'ed set up because I just ran it and the bass isn't screaming but the display still says 'STRAIGHT" ... which I am.

Oh crap ... now I'm not sure if I,m listening to the 40 Large or the 80 Small setting.

... let it be over soon. :( :D

If it reversed polarity on the subs there might be a reason it did. I would listen to it that way because it might be correct. You can always put it back if you don't like it but you may get a better blending with your speakers with it reversed.

Jeff, I'm letting the YPAO do it's thing with the polarity of the subs. The speaker/sub transition is seamless. With this rec'r the 24db/oct LP slope that TLS recommended for these subs is finally being met. I'll get all the ins and outs figured out over time but I am so happy with the current sound of this that I am prepared to have your republican babies. :D

Adam, Brothers in Arms (BIA) which you already own IIRC. The beginning of track 3 has that guitar bit that is pretty revealing of a speakers upper mid/lower treble if I have my terms right. I like to use track 6 to see how well a speaker can handle vocals. The Wallflowers One Headlight has this laid back bass beat that is very revealing of a systems ability down low.

There's no freedom of speech up there ... and can they just stop you from web surfing like that?
Isn't that like neglect?
OK, I finally got a chance to see it - love it!

No freedom of speech? Don't be silly.

 Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

I just threw up in my mouth.!
That's only because deep down you know that left is right and right is wrong.

:p:D

I'll be back in a couple of hours to read up on the memory bit. Is there a way for me to see the actual settings for the 7 bands of parametric EQ'ing as opposed to those little squiggly lines?

If anything, he sure is persistent.:):D
Woed - can you even imagine what he puts Cheryl through?

"Can the twins come out to play? Come on, honey, let 'em have some air. I just want to look at them - I won't even try to touch them. Promise. Oh, come on. Please? I've been so good today. I went shopping with you, took you out to dinner, and only posted a couple of times on the forum. You know you want to. Oh, I can see it in your eyes - there it is! That's the stuff. Unleash them. You know you want to let me see them. Let them come out. Come on, come on."

"FINE! I'll let you see them, but only for ten minutes. And no touching - they stay in the jar!"

:D

Right is correct and left is a bunch of socialist loonies:p What were we talking about? Oh yeah, yes you can see what the settings are. You have to go into the PEQ and there you can see what freq were chosen, and what cuts or boosts were made. if you see any boosts that are over about 3db I would back them down a little. Don't worry about any cuts though.

What's the verdict Alex? How does it sound compared to your old setup?
