Seriously, I have no life.
One of the best businesses in the US it seems. Tax free, too.
I meant, personally own a church, not as an organization. I was raised Catholic- well aware of the money and power aspects and they're some of the main reasons I left. Awfully cult-like, too- so much secrecy, wearing robes, fancy hats, lots of symbolism, chanting, use of candles and frankincense in special ceremonies......and the old "Only we can read the Bible- you wouldn't understand it, so we'll explain it all to you. If you pay us for as long as you live. Oh, BTW, if you give us lots of money, we'll guarantee you'll get to heaven".

Yes, I mean an individual owning/controlling a church. Not that hard to do, look at the televangelists. You might have trouble with full franchisee rights to a big outfit like the Catholic church, tho :)

Republicans' trying to grow their party with more rape and incest babies while protecting Covid rights seems counter productive.
It's not about productive or not. Republicans have standard operating modes - a) while in power - cut taxes for rich (the hell with fiscal responsibility) and pander to their cult followers voters by enforcing anti-abortion, more church control, weaker education, and pro-guns. mode b) while not in control - do everything in their power to make other guys look bad, scream bloody mary about fiscal responsibility (socialism, etc - take your pick) and in general be disruptive as much as possible.
That's in. This isn't about productivity, just two things: Be in power, get rich quick.

Covid deaths, rape, incest, shootings at schools - nothing matters to them, only the two things above.

The point is that it's a mans job to control and manipulate women and when that fails, use the bible to layer on an extra level of control while not having any personal consequences.

You're dead wrong, protecting Covid rights is now on their agenda too! :)

I can't look at social media even for a minute without seeing at least one conservative spewing how Covid is getting a bad rap and getting blamed for people dying. Protecting guns and a deadly virus while letting real people get sick and die and protecting their gun caches. I'm all for people having a gun to protect themselves or their families but when they complain that they can't collect automatic weapons designed for mass murder then turn around and insist that school shootings are a hoax I just throw up in my mouth.

Women's rights are the same as men's rights.
Glad you agree. Texas doesn't. My wife's OB asked THREE times if she was sure she wanted her tubes tied. I almost lost it after the first, but then I realized they are not only required to ask, but the "husband" had to agree.

I refuse to puss out and leave. These idiots are going to have to deal with all the other angry natives like me that don't want our state ruined any more than it is.

Pretty much. It's not fun being outside the base of dumbshits.

What's crazy is that there are SO many more people I've talked to that hate Abbot for this than like him. I'm not sure where all these followers are, but I sure thought there'd be more of them.

The Supreme Court allowed a lawsuit by clinics to go forward. For the most part, this kills the standing issue that was a problem in the prior cases. The law was undoubtedly drafted with the intention of creating standing issues, so the first line of defense written into the law has fallen.

The Supreme Court didn't rule substantively on the merits of the law (i.e. the court did not say the law is either constitutional or unconstitutional).

What do think of this opinion?
