This is what I'm thinking. The room will be roughly 20 L X 13 W X 9 H. Now here is my delema, I was thinking of using Foam board insulation on the unfinishined concrete wall and then frame with 2X6's and pink insulation and maybe double drywall with green slime. My question is should I also use foam board on the three non concrete walls as well? I want to keep as much sound in the room as possible, without spending a fortune. Also I was looking on the green slime website and saw their noise proofing clips. ANyone used these or know someone who has? Are they effective? When you double dry wall should you use different thickness sheets? I also have some duct work that will be in the room what the best way to sound proof that. ? Just stuff as uch insulation around it as you can? Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

On the concrete, it's purely a heat insulator. Use pink in all the walls. No need to use 2 different thicknesses. The more mass the better. 2 layers of 5/8 is best. The clips can work very well. If you really want good isolation, use something like PAC International DC-04 clips to tie the walls to the joists above. Build the walls 1/2" short so they're not physically touching the joists and use the DC-04's every 2' around the perimeter. Now that the walls are decoupled, you only need to do clips and channel on the ceiling. Also, you'll need to pay very close attention to any openings in the room (outlets, switches, lights, HVAC, etc.) or all your effort is for naught. What's a good place to buy the clips? Oh and there seems to be different weight ratings to these, is the light weight one fine or would I need the heavy duty.

They're meant to provide a place to turn movement into a shearing force. On the ceiling, again, if you do the PAC RSIC-1, it's only one rating. You just change how many you need per unit area if you go with 3 layers isntead of 2. I have the clips available if you need them. Bryan

I would guess the two ducts combined are over 4 ft wide. I couldn't be able to use the dc o4's there, is there a work around? I could take pictures if I didn't make it real clear. So the duct would affect the front and rear walls.

There are ways around the ducting and still allow for the isolation depending on how things are laid out. Bryan
