This week I was able to watch a couple of movies via streaming. First one was Ferrari by Michael Mann and the second was Transformer One.

Ferrari- It was ok. I feel like this movie could've been a lot better. Mann said he's been planning this movie for over 30 years. A bit disappointing for a movie that's been on his mind for 30 years. It was more like a snap-shot in time type of movie. The year was 1957 and during that year Ferrari was going broke. So, it included his extreme love of racing and wanting to be the best, his company almost going broke and lots of stuff going on in his personal life. It was more of a documentary than anything else. One thing it did show was how dangerous racing was back in that day. I will say the acting was pretty good. Final score is 6/10.

Transformers One- Fun movie. Wasn't expecting much going in. Just thought I would check it out. Animation was actually pretty good. Overall story was good as well. It's a prequel to all Transformer movies. The story of how Megatron became Megatron and how Optimus Prime became Optimus Prime. If you have Paramount+ you'll be able to check it out. Final score 8/10.
You're too generous.

I give Ferrari a 5/10 and Transformers One 7/10. :D

Didn't watch Ferrari because of the reviews :) . Sounds a lot like Saturday Night. It is fun to see all the characters there from when it started, but it feels a lot like the short bits in the show. They all lead up to the first show, but they feel disconnected from each other because of how it is presented, like a bunch of skits lol.

I watched Transformers cartoons as a kid. After the movies were all disappointments, I was not so hyped to see this one either. Might give it a shot.

The Substance 4k Disc

Watched The Substance on 4k disc this last weekend. Stars Demi Moore, Dennis Quaid and Margaret Qualley. I really like this movie. All the actors do an amazing job with their roles. Demi Moore's performance was top notch. With how crazy this movie gets, seeing her in this was awesome. Dennis Quaid's role is not something you would see him do, but I have to say he played his part very well.

As far as the actual 4k picture and sound go, all were pretty good. They had a 5.1 soundtrack. The picture was clean and there were tons of colors throughout the movie that popped. Lots of bright colors. They have a lot of closeup shots in this movie, so you'll be able to see tons of details in those closeups.

If you like movies that are outside the norm, you have to give this a view. The performances are definitely worth seeing. I believe Demi Moore is nominated for an Oscar for this performance and she won the Golden Globe. Some scenes can be a bit gruesome and grotesque. So, just know that going into this movie. Overall I'm giving The Substance a 9/10. :D

Enjoyed “The Substance” as well. Dennis Quaid did a fine job and actually replaced Ray Liotta who passed away before filming his scenes. I would like to have seen Ray’s performance of that character.

Watched The Last Voyage of the Demeter on 4k dsic last night. I liked it. Would've liked to see a bit more of Dracula, but I get what they were doing. Having it take place more from the crew side of things instead of Dracula's point of view. Both PQ and SQ were good. Since most of the movie is during the night, colors are dark. Nothing really pops out, color wise. Close up shots showed lots of detail. The closeups of the slashes and gashes showed lots of detail. This had a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. It wasn't demo worthy be any means, but there were moments throughout that had the heights activated. Some moments where the rears had some background effects coming through. The bass would get active throughout. Wasn't earth shattering, but good enough.

Overall, I'm giving this movie a 7/10. It was entertaining. I think if you find it on one of your streaming services, it's worth a view. :)

I actually agreed with your rating here. :D

It is sort of “sweet and to the point”, taking one chapter and making a movie of it.

Funny thing is - my wife hates EVERY SINGLE movie about Dracula or Vampires, but somehow she loved this movie!! I guess she likes it short and sweet. :D

Stephen King said the “Demeter” movie is "a throat-ripping good time" and "the best of the Hammer movies from the 60s and '70s".

Guillermo del Toro also praised the movie, calling it "gorgeous, lavish and savage!!

Demeter was decent, not great. Fun enough watch for the genre. Nicely shot, good tension and the story was pretty good, but visually very dark.

I bet I'm the only one who feels this way, but right now I think "Demeter" might be my favorite "Dracula" movie. :D

Bram Stoker was great, but it's old and the PQ/SQ is outdated.

The "Underworld" franchise is my favorite Vampire/Lycan movies, though.

I really like Bram Strokers Dracula. I don't know if I have "Dracula" movie that sticks out above the rest. I will be watching Nosferatu this Friday, so maybe that will be a top Dracula movie. I guess you could call this a "guilty pleasure" type of movie, but one that I enjoy watching every few years is Dracula 2000. I always liked the soundtrack to that movie. :D

Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 4k Digital Review

Watched this movie on Friday night. The digital copy was on sale, and knew I wasn't going to purchase the 4k disc when it came out. So figure I'd give it a shot. Reviews online were mixed. Some liked it, some did not. I'm kind of in the middle as well. The animation was good. It was a bit odd they would use great looking 3D images for the background, and then every character was a 2D on top. At times throughout it looked really bad. Characters weren't even touching the ground at times. The story takes place 183 years before the events of the Hobbit. Hera is the main character, the daughter of Helm Hammerhand who is the leader of Rohan. Things go south when Helm accidently kills the leader of Dunland. The leader of Dunland has a son named Wulf, who he thought should marry Helm's daughter Hera. But Hera told him she just wanted to be friends and that didn't go over well. Wulf built an army and came back to destroy Helm and Rohan, to take over as King.

Throughout, there are some easter eggs for Lord of the Rings fans. I didn't really like Hera. The story made it seem like she was this "ultimate warrior" type. She had moments throughout, but it kind of just fell flat. I don't want to give too much away with other characters, so I will just leave it at that.

I'm going to give the movie a 6/10. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either. It was just somewhere in the middle where it was great seeing another story in Middle Earth, but the overall story just fell flat, in my opinion and the animation choice was a bit odd. Catch it on a streaming service. :)
