I don't want another Shakespeare in Love type situation. One of the most overrated movies in history. I think Sinners should win a couple. The massive number of nominations for Sinners is a bit much. It was a good movie and deserved to be nominated, but 16 is way too many. Haven't seen Frankenstein yet but hear it's really good. F1 deserves for cinematography and directing. Don't even know what The Secret Agent is. I still haven't seen One battle after another. I'm guessing that will win some awards. They're trying to push it hard to win the big ones.
In the end, the Oscars are a joke anyways. They lost all credibility about 15 or so years ago. They no longer award the actual best for anything. Just who makes the most noise. Most of the people that actually get to vote on these winners don't even watch all the movies that are out there. Some don't even watch the entire movie; they'll just stop it and move on. I think one thing they could do to spice things up to actually get some viewers would be to bring Ricky Gervais in as the host. I think he would be perfect right now.
