I got the deck hooked up to the rack finally. It still wasn't working the way I wanted it too after 3 different connect configurations. I decided at this point to stop and read the owners manual of the preamp. I banged my head on the desk repeatedly when I saw the "record selector switch" in the manual. I was tired at this point and went to bed. I tried the connecting thing again and bingo!! I also bypassed the tape monitor loop on the EQ as I want to record my source material unaltered by the EQ.

I also put in the calibration tape and the spectrum analyzer pegged the tape output at 3KHz which is the frequency that was recorded on the tape.

I did an invisible system upgrade with my basement system. I replaced the Iomega media player which did not have any networking capability (but it has a 1 TB drive) with a Roku Ultra HD. I can now accesss my Emby server/library as well as get back some of the movie streaming apps that are no longer being supported on my Samsung TV. I just made it a dumb TV.

I decided to put the Iomega in the Yamaha stereo stack. The analog outs of the Iomega feed the preamp. The HDMI cable is fed to the display so I can navigate the Iomega's menu.

I came home yesterday from my daughter's place after spending the weekend with them. Its a 90 minute drive away . On my way home I picked up a 25 cube kallax storage shelf from Ikea for the basement. I started the project around 2pm yesterday and didn't finish it until 7pm for supper. I still had some tidying up to do this morning.

It started off by emptying the white shelves.

There new spot was in the furnace/laundry room which also meant some rearranging. I first had to move the gray shelf and ladder to the new location shown.

The two white shelves landed in the spot where the gray shelf was.

After teh laundry/furnace room was organized, I had space to build the Kallax in the media room. I built the 25 cube unit without losing my sh?t. I think I'm beginning to get fluent in IKEA. Once built and located where I wanted it to go, I moved all albums from brown shelves below to the Kallax.

I took all the cassettes from this location

and moved them to the brown shelves

Now all my albums are in one spot and my cassettes in the other
