3 Zone Home Audio - Which Amp?

I think I've sorted out a cheap, yet functional solution, but I want to make sure that it will work...

I've found a Yamaha HTR-5250 on Craigslist for next to nothing.
It is a 5.1 receiver with a Pre Out.

I will run the Channel A speakers to the Kitchen and the Channel B Speakers to the Dining Room (and the Sub to the Sub, of course) - decided I don't need to adjust the Dining Room volume separately.
I can use the Pre-out to add an amp to power the outdoor speakers at a later date.

For Airplay, I'll just get an Airport Express or Apple TV and use one of the inputs on the receiver.

Does anyone see a problem with this set up?

Thanks to everyone for their help.
If the pre-out functions as per your needs, it should work.

If you haven't already, download the manual to confirm.

I'm a little late to this conversation but I have a very similar set up.
5.1 in living room
Speakers in Kitchen (no sub)
Speakers on Patio

My goal was to be able to control volume independently per zone and play different/same sources per zone in any combination.

I wrestled with several solutions (and receivers) but finally found that the Yamaha RV-A2030 is the perfect fit. It may be expensive but in my case worth every penny.

The RV-A2030 has 3 powered zones. I can play different/same sources across all zones. When playing the same source the zones will stay in sync (very important and a major problem if you use surround sound in one of the zones). Best of all I can control everything via the Yamaha AV phone app, including playing music from itunes, pandora, etc.
