Saints are going all the way this year. Completely revamped defense with a new, proven, super-aggressive DC, and the #1 offense in football back on the field with virtually no changes.
I'm feeling really good about this one.

They should be a good team this year. Who is their DC? I am very familiar with their offense, defense not so much.

Gregg Williams. He's put together several top-10 defenses, including that brutal #1 Titans D that carried them to the Super Bowl. He's apparently known for his complex playbook, aggressive play, and tough coaching.
The Saints added some great secondary help too. Malcom Jenkins, the #1 CB in the draft, along with safety Darren Sharper and excellent CB Jabari Greer. The secondary was the biggest problem last year.

Ahh, Gregg Williams is a great coordinator, not a very good heach good (HC for the Bills). I have always liked Jabari Greer, long time(2nd-3rd string) player of the Bills and when finally given a chance of regular playing time, had a breakout year. Greer played very well for us at CB. Its a shame the Bills did not resign him, wish him success with the Saints. At the very least Greer adds depth, he is good enough to start imo.

Wanted to send out my condolences to the Eagles fans... the passing of Jim Johnson was very sad to see. Outstanding D-coordinator who came up with some of the scariest and most effective blitz packages in the entire league.
Too bad all of his hard work was undone by the dry-heaving McNabb...

#1 offense in football?!?!? You're kidding right??? Here are a few names that I guess you haven't heard of:
Rivers
LT
Gates
Sproles
Jackson
Chambers
Now THERE'S the #1 offense in football.
The Saints have definitely improved with Brees, (you're welcome), but I don't see them getting to the big game.
That being said, I think this is the year that my Bolts finally get over the hump and bring the Lombardi to San Diego. LT is healthy and has a chip on his shoulder. Rivers has proven himself to be one of the best QB's in the league. Gates is.... well Gates. Jackson and Chambers are a great WR tandem. And Sproles should tear up opposing defenses as he always does.
Merriman is back healthy. Jamal Williams feels better than he has in years. Jammer is consistently one of the best corners in the league. Cromartie is over his hip injury and looks to be back to his amazing 07 form. Larry English should provide a nice boost the the LB core.
If the Chargers O and D play up to their potential, I honestly don't see anyone stopping them. But I've been predicting a Super Bowl win for the Bolts for the last few years. All the potential and talent in the world doesn't mean a thing if you can't get it done on the field.
Damn, this season can't come fast enough. Let's roll!!!!

I don't like it anymore than you, but statistically, (depending on what stats you want to look at) not just by names on the backs of jerseys, the Saints do have "probably" one of the most prolific offenses in the league. But, they aren't the best offense...

If I were to take a healthy offense, it would be the cheattriots . I would take Brees and Brady over Rivers.

Im a Jets Fan (I know let the ridiculing begin) but I also root for the Giants. Giants just signed Eli to a staggering 106.9 mill, to bad he doesnt have anyone to throw too.
I guess I'll see how Philly and Dallas does this year, but the Giants might get lucky.

By the way, Eli is GROSSLY overpaid. The Giants are spending Mercedes money on a Toyota. But it's not like they're the first NY franchise to pay too much for their players.

I agree with you Darien, I was shocked to learn of his new contract. I would not put him even in the top 5 quarterbacks in the league, maybe 7-10. The positives about Eli though is that he has the capability of coming back late in games and pulling out a victory and he is a winner! Does he deserve the money sure but it will be interesting to see how he does this year without his saftey net of Plaxico Burress at WR who I think was their most valuable player on offense.

The Cowboys have been beaten by Eli enough for me to disagree with that statement. That man is a very good QB and if his receiver wouldn't have shot himself then he would have probably been in the super bowl last year.

Dunno Brees is insanse and put up 5,000 yards last year.
When I think the bolts I think LT. I love watching running backs though.
I just wish the Cowboys would sign Vick. Think of how sick we would be. We could run a nasty wildcat with Vick and Felix Jones. I'll keep dreaming.

Overpaid- probably, but he's an NFL QB. Do you really think that if he went to Free Agency that some QB-starved team wouldn't pay that much money for him?
Two things to keep in mind about the contract:
1) NFL contracts are not 100% guaranteed. I'm willing to bet that Eli only gets paid about 60% of that money before they ask him to restructure.
2) He plays in the NYC-area and he won a SB. The market price becomes inflated.
And while I would never say he's the equivalent of his brother, Brady, or Brees, his stats are quite comparable to his peers considering he plays on a run-first team in a bad weather city. In his 4 full years as a started he's gone 41-23, his completion percentage has gone up every year, his interceptions have come down, and he's made the playoffs for 4 straight years.
As a fan, I'm not quite sure what else I could want him to do, and I have no problem with the Giants paying him.

I would like:
The Packers Organization to act like they have an actual plan for the near and distant future.
I would like the Organization to admit mistakes, communicate their intentions ("We want to win" or "Well, we're really not sure what will happen this year, at this point") and I'm tired of hearing that "This will be a rebuilding year". Yes, I know they can't lay their cards on the table for the other teams to see but when they say "We won't be signing Randy Moss" when they're really saying "Hey Brett- thanks, but don't let the door hit you on the azz when you leave".
To be pleasantly surprised by the way they play this season.
I was around when Lombardi took them to great success, Bart Starr being called 'Coach' but it was more like he was hog-tied and gagged. I was here when Forrest Gregg was coach. Sort of. I was here when Phil Bengston traded away just about every decent draft choice for 10 years and when Dan Devine's dog was shot when he could do nothing to get them to win. I was here when the strike caused GB to use people who were discarded by other teams, including Don Majkowski, who was exciting to watch, in a Russian Roulette kind of way. Then, Brett Favre replaced him after he was thrown to the ground in a senseless act and suffered a career-ending shoulder injury.
Mike Holmgren was asked if Brett had ulcers and he answered "No, but he is a carrier".
We have had far too many soap opera seasons and incidents. A local radio show had a segment called "All My Packers" for years and used mostly cartoon character voices and quotes for the dialogue. It was funny but too true.
