He didn't have to get out of bounds. There was still time on the clock at that point.
If i remember correctly it was 19 secs with no timeouts. No way he drops back to pass runs 5-10 yards. Remember the Wr's are running routes down the field (15-20 yards pass the line of scrimmage). They have to run back, the offense has to setup and spike the ball....I call BS...no way they get that off...it would be so close if they would...that interception wasn't the problem for the Vikings.

I'm not the only one that thinks so.

If this is the last pass ever thrown by Brett Favre, it will likely stick in his craw for the rest of his life, and deservedly so, for it was one of the worst decisions ever made by a Hall of Fame QB in such a critical game.

If Favre had tucked the ball in and ran, it would have set up a makeable field goal to end the game in regulation. Instead, the horrendous brain cramp forced overtime and it was goodbye Vikings.

Was that a poor decision by Favre? Huge mistake but again it didn't cost them the game. The biggest mistakes in order IMO would be the Percy Harvin fumble that led to 7 points, the Adrian Peterson fumble before halftime in the redzone, Berrians fumble in the redzone, then Favres interception. This all added together cost the Vikings the game. Percy Harvin's fumble was HUGE.

Brett Favre's final pass as a member of the Packers, Jets and Vikings were all interceptions.

Actually now that I think it over I think they did have 1 timeout left? Favre called a timeout at the same time the refs called a penalty for to many people in the huddle. That would have negated the timeout? I would have to agree with you then if this is the case...sorry  . YOUR RIGHT!

They just had their second time out before that huddle. They can't take two timeouts back to back. At first, I thought that was why there was a flag.
I can't blame Farve for not wanting to run and get another hit. He was limping as it was. It was a bad pass though. What really cost them the game were the fumbles and the bad calls by the refs. The Saints were stopped but the refs gave them first downs twice.

How the F... do you come out of a timeout and have 12 men in the huddle? The Vikings get an all around "D" imo.
Congrats to all you Saints and Colts fans!!!
FWIW this SB should live up to the billing...I hope.:)
Our CFL Grey Cup game came down to 12 men on the field penalty and gave the other team a second chance after a missed FG....;) That one is on Childress!

Was reading Peter King this morning... that's not 100% accurate. His second to last pass as a Jet was an interception. His last pass was a desperation throw that actually was completed, and then fumbled as part of an attempted hook and ladder play.

Wow that game last night was the best I've seen since the Panthers-Rams a few years back. It stinks if Favre goes out on an Interception. I hope he comes back next year. He clearly still has it. The game was so close. After all the crazy stuff the Saints have been through I'm cheering for the upset.

It could be the best Super Bowl of our lives. Brees and Manning are the best at their position and this is a dream matchup. The last time the two best QBs in a season played against each other in the Super Bowl was probably the Titans-Rams or the Bengals-49ers(IOTW rare). Those were great Super Bowls. This should be no different.

Bologna. As a football player (and I don't care what position you play) you need to commit your body for the team in a situation like that with the Superbowl is on the line. After all it is a contact sport.

Interesting stats about the superbowl ref crew

I never double checked if what this person stated is 100% but it is interesting nonetheless. The last thing I want to see is ticky tacky calls having an influential part on the outcome of the superbowl. It could also have an influence on "prop bets" with your buddies.

You make a good point, but he is 40. I can't imagine the pain he was going through. Wonder how long it will take him to recover.

Im hoping tickets will be available after the kick off on the cheap:D
Personally I doubt it b/c you're going to get a huge wave of Saints fans traveling the not so far distance to Miami. I think this is one Super Bowl where ticket availability will be extremely limited up until and right after kick off.

Bodies heal, but your memory doesn't. He will have to live with that forever.

I dont know, although both teams travel well, the way tickets are awarded will leave a large amount to be sold through outlets and with the economy, you never know. I get lower bowl tickets to the dolphins vs pats, jets, giants (biggest crowds) after kickoff for 50% or more off of face value :D

EDIT: Hotel rooms have been booked for a year and the brokers are having a real hard time unloading them. House rentals for the two weeks (pro and super bowl) are way off.

Anyone can do the math. There are about 60,000 Colts season tickets sold. Dolphin Stadium holds 75,540, and the Colts and Saints each get 17.5 percent of those. That means the Colts sales staff gets about 13,320 Super Bowl tickets to disburse.

Here’s how the rest of the Super Bowl tickets are disbursed: 1.2 percent to each team not in the game, 5 percent to the host team/city, 25.2 percent to the NFL—which hands them out to sponsors, broadcast partners and the host committee.
