Psh... nothing. I always sand huge curves with this:
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?um=1&hl=en&q=bosch+belt+sander&ie=UTF-8&cid=9590351190114643488&ei=sDrbS_jFD4myswPDxNGiAQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCAQ8wIwAA#ps-sellers

Circulars and vibrating orbitals are for fine tuning.
I build boats on the side, and restore 60's Chris crafts, and that belt sander and an electric planer are your best friends for curves.
Thanks. The belt sander was going in first already. I may want to pick up a circular to finish it off though. I have a rectangular vibrating sander, but think it may have trouble with the curved shape.

Buwahahahahaha.... I thought you were checking on excursion clearence.
It should give me 85 db at 10 htz with no room reinforcement and 102 to 105 db in-room response. That will be plenty for me. My main goal is to get that low with as little distortion as possible.
Here is a chart from the manufacturer's site.

Do you have a link to the specs or the manufactures site? I would like to run this thing in Bassbox Pro and see what it does.

I want to do a knock off of Mark Seaton's Submersive using two of these one of these days.

I'm wondering what size box would be required for something like that....

Would be a pretty cool build..... I love dual opposed..

gmichael, that should be a really cool build... Make sure you have enough clearance on the bottom, and did you check with Kevin about the driver sag with a downfiring design ?

A few people on another site were saying that I needed more bracing. Here is the new design. Anyone feel like helping me get this monster up the stairs when it's finished?

Cutting begain last weekend. There were a lot of setbacks at first, but now it's moving along well. I have 15 rings cut and the rest have all been drawn out. Just need to connect the dots with the jig saw and then I can start stacking.

Thanks,

I will have 3 inches of clearence below the driver. If it needs more than that it could fly away on it's own. I can always add more if needed. The base will not be glued on. Just screws and brads. The feet will be made from scrap MDF stacked 4 deep. Adding another layer or two would be no problem.

Keven said that it should be fine for downfiring.

If you email me measurements I can draw up some real plans and a nice 3D model :)

I would post pics, but the wifey took the camera to the Pilippines. She'll be back this weekend.

Thanks so much. These are all the radii in inches. There are a few that have “0” as the ID. These are braces (except the last few that will be on the top). The braces will be like wagon wheels with 4 spokes each. Rings 15.5 and 17.5 were late additions. I didn’t want to renumber everything. Mosley because I have 15 rings already cut and labeled.

I saved it as a pic and edited it to be 75% as tall as it was. This looks to be about right.

Thank you again so very much!:D

I had to check your first post to get the thickness, but that's how it looks as they are all 3/4". I thought it would be a bit rounder too. I basically took one part and kept saving it as the next and editing the dimensions. There appear to be 40 unique parts, as some are duplicates (like the foot section).

PM me your email and I will send you a PDF.

This is the sort of thing I have been doing all day, every day for the last ~20 years :D

Cool,

Did you use my numbers as radii or as diameters?

Yeah, the feet will all be from one ring, cut into 16 slices and stacked 4 high.

Those were radii? I thought they were diameters....I can adjust. I guess so since the driver is 18" DUH :)
