    Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature

Did I miss something? Sunfire is still in business, aren't they? If you want a Sunfire amp, there's many legitimate dealers that can sell them online. Ebay is an option, but I'd stick to sellers with copious positive feedback. I consider Audiogon to be safer overall, with (generally...

    Simple 2.0 Setup

Shame the screen isn't an inch higher, but otherwise very nice! Question: what keeps the Optoma stuck to the bottom of that glass shelf?

Help me find a projector please

BTW, my first "disposable" digital PJ was a Plus Piano. Five years later and it's still running strong in my brothers theater rig.;)

Help me find a projector please

It's a shame, in a way, that you're limited to component cables (if I'm reading you correctly). Component will give you a great picture, but now that HDMI is widespread it would be nice to be able to use it. Especially since your budget allows you to pick from some very good PJs. Which...

    Carver CM 1090 amp

Check the original post date, kyocira- it's about a year and a half old. I doubt it's still for sale. Still, you never know! If it's gone you might want to check Ebay, as they do come up for sale occasionally. Good luck and welcome to AH!:D

    World Basketball, US stunned..

The "Dream Team" didn't have to play as a team! Individually they were so superior to their opponents that most of them stood slack jawed and watched. Back in those days very few NBA players were foreign, and B-ball was primarily an American game. What's happened since then? The rest of the...

    The Original Star Wars Trilogy

Sadly, I will probably pass on buying Star Wars. I don't really want the vandalized previous edition but I don't want to waste my money on the nonanamorphic set that's just in stereo. Pity, I loved the films but Lucas seems to live only to screw his fans.

For PJ users- what size is your screen?

I just can't afford/justify the expense of a Stewart. I love video but my heart is more into the audio side. If I had unlimited $$$...alas, I don't. Probably the CARADA 80" in BW will be the way to go.

For PJ users- what size is your screen?

Yeah, I realize the Perm-wall is a cheapo. If I went that route it would only be just cost. Since I'll probably own several PJs over the years but hopefully just one screen, I'm leaning towards the Carada.

    1080p or marketing BS ??

Oooh, keep us posted! Pics would rock. I'm stoked at the thought of the '81 & its matching scaler. Anamorphic 1080P, anyone?:D That would be ideal. Actually, a 1080/24p setting for film, with another setting for higher framerate digital HD cameras...if we can get Hollywood to bite...

For PJ users- what size is your screen?

Yes, I really should zoom by lens a little and see how I like it. I'd lose the masking which would wash it out a tad, but I could live witht the size for a week. I've been planning on a Carada, although I'm wavering slightly- I got a price match quote from the place I bought my Gyrolock PJ...

    132" wide screen?

There's a lot of good info to be found here, Neon, but you may also want to check out AVS Forums. AH actually has a section there, too. There's probably no single place on the 'net where you can learn more about video than AVS. That said, nothing wrong with starting here.:D I also have to...

    Dented metal tweeter dome?

Well, if you own matching bookshelves that changes the equation a bit. Obviously you like the sound of those speakers so that has to be taken into account. Eosone was a company founded by Arnie Nudell, wasn't it? They sold thru Best Buy and were pretty heavily discounted. I thought at the...

For PJ users- what size is your screen?

Just an informal poll- what size of screen do you use? What aspect ratio? How far back do you sit? And what PJ or resolution do you run? I'm simply curious. I have an 84" 16:9 screen about 12.5 feet from my viewing position, lit by an Optoma H31 @ 480P. SDE & RBE is no problem at all...

    132" wide screen?

Scuttlebutt at AVS is that the new Optoma HD81 actually looks better than the Pearl...A bit early to say, of course. Maybe we'll know more after CEDIA. Probably a glass beaded screen isn't the way to go. With good light control something like a Carada BW would probably work very well...

    Dented metal tweeter dome?

The dent may not matter, hard to tell. Perhaps you could pull the dent out gently with vacuum power. Replacing the tweeter may be an option if the same one is available. Those Eosone's aren't too bad for their class, but that's about the top price a person could ask for an 8/10 rated pair...

    1080p or marketing BS ??

As an aside I'm really anxious for news from CEDIA this year...I'm eager to see the next gen of 1080 digital PJs. There's at least one 1080P capable LCD coming from Mitsubishi and at least one 1080P DLP model from Optoma. I'm practically foaming at the mouth to get details and street...

    132" wide screen?

Well, it also has to be able to focus at that distance and put out enough light to be watchable. There are some very bright PJs under $2k, especially DLP.

    132" wide screen?

I don't thing any offense was meant by saying a whole wall picture was 'inappropriate'- I think he was just saying it might not be optimal. Having a huge picture may seem like a good idea, but there are practical considerations. First off, when you go to the movie theater, where do you sit...

Would I be stupid to buy a Denon 3805 NOW?

I think if you can get a great deal on a 3805 you would be smart to go for it. About a year ago I upgraded from a 3802 to a 3805; while the '05 has some real advantages over the older model (eg more component inputs, video upsampling, 0.5 dB volume steps) it doesn't really 'blow it away.' I...
