Does The Theater Enhance The Market Value of The HOME?

If the house had ample other rooms it would enhance it. If it was built with a "bonus room" & said room was was big enough for an effective home theatre I know a lot of people who would love it. Lets face it. Who DOESN"T watch TV & movies? Most people I know, while they may not have a primo sound...

Bodybuilding Thread from Yamaha Z9 Discussion

Interesting to find this thread on this forum. Most people don't understand how complicated body building is. I chuckle when friends ask me for some advice on workout regimens & follow my response by saying "But I don't want to get too huge & bulked up". I simply tell them not to worry about...

    The Ethics of Product Review

I enjoy reading the reviews on this site. I find that they are objective,in-depth,& professional. When there are criticisms of a product, they are done tactfully & without malice. Thank you Gene,Steve, & Clint. You provide an avenue for less experienced audio enthusiasts such as myself to gather...

    speaker wiring

I found some that are reuseable. Rather than crimping(permanent,one-time use) these have a cap that unscrews from the bottom, you insert the bare wire, fan it out, then replace the cap & it secures the wire inside. A bit more $ but they can be used over & over, good if you need to adjust length or...

mitsu ws-65813 CRT vs. Sony KDF950XBR LCD

The 65813 is a nice set & personally I would take it over any LCD. Be sure to compare both sets on analog before deciding. Agree with Westrock. The DLP's are fabulous & must be considered.

Advice needed for adding Amp to HT set-up.

Go ahead & try it both ways. I have the feeling, though, that you won't be happy biamping the setup that way. You're creating such a mismatch of input power to the speakers that it probably won't sound all that good. Probably a waste of the B&K power too. Let us know what you find out.

Digital Audio Cables: Optical or Coaxial?

Actually the optical cables should be preferred for longer runs as they have less loss than a coax. Probably a non-issue for short runs though.

    Obscure Movies that Don't Suck

Gattica was indeed a good movie. "Glengarry Glen Ross" was interesting,star-laden movie about a real estate firm. One of my personal favorites is "let it ride",starring Richard Dreyfus.Funny.

Speakers; When is good enough, enough

OK Doc. My car comparison was in reaction to your statement which,in a nutshell, said what I thought was a better sounding speaker wasn't really better, but that since it cost more my mind was telling me that it has to sound better. I disagreed because I know thats not true. I've been around long...

Speakers; When is good enough, enough

Hey pal,one doesn't need to be a doctor or an expert to figure out if he likes what he hears. Is it hypnosis when I discover that a Lexus rides & performs better than a Kia? Or is the Lexus name a placebo too? Ironically, the best sounding gear I've HEARD happens to be rather expensive.

Morduant Short Speakers - how to get them? Vs Aperion Vs Axiom

I've got the Axiom m60's & I think they look fine. You can't tell if they're real wood or not unless you inspect them REAL close. They are kind of deep but so are a lot of designs these days.

    Axiom Audio M60ti Loudspeaker Review

Axiom M60 I've had these for almost 2 months & am quite satisfied. I don't have a ton of experience with hifi gear but will tell you what I've heard.I have these driven by a Yamaha 3300 receiver (130wpc) & compared to the Boston 950's that they replaced($750/pr retail but I paid $400) there...

Odyssey Pre Amp and Power Amps.........

I have had my eye on the Stratos from Odyssey. The reviews have been very good & the specs look impressive. The only thing that bothers me is that they have a 30 day return policy but on their website say that it takes about 6 weeks for the unit to be fully broken in.Also the fact that if you turn...

    Passing cable behind sheet rock

If it's an outside wall it's a real b!tc# because of insulation. If it is you can save yourself a lot of drama by just taking the wire thru the attic, drill it to the outside, take down the wall outside(you can staple it when your done),then drill it back inside where you want it.If you have a...

Did you review the Odyssey Stratos amp in Feb.? I've been researching amps for a bit & ran across one negative review on this model, which happened to be by someone named Clint. Just curious.Others seem to really like these, but then most people seem to give good reviews to the gear they buy. I...
