    Sub 'Distance' setting

This is a great discussion and an important one. What matters most is the integration between the sub(s) and the satellite speakers. Its good to start with the correct sub distance but always wise to experiment. In my system I am using Audyssey Pro MultEQ stand alone processor for the sub...

    EQ vs. Room Treatments

Room EQ doesn't negate the need for passive room treatments. It compliments it. My advice for getting better bass goes in order of importance: 1. multiple subs properly placed: anyone serious about getting good bass and still using 1 sub to do it is seriously missing out 2. some passive...

APC AV H15 1.5kVA H Type Power Conditioner Review

The Rotel is a clone of the S15 with Battery backup, not the H15. I love the S15s and recently upgraded to S20s with the only drawback being the latter don't have any 12v triggers.

    Denon's separates are here!

Back when I was a poor college student, I worked for a high end audio shop repairing equipment and installing at client houses. WE sold McIntosh. We never charged for install b/c the profits were so good, we didn't need to. Today the margins in most mass market stuff, especially displays...

    Denon's separates are here!

Much better than you realize. I have played with many Krell processors in the past and not one of them came even close to the processing power, bass management and overall quality of the Denon AVR-5805. The Krell does however have a much nicer box, aesthetics, snob appeal and resale value...

    Denon's separates are here!

Everyone seems so fixated on power ratings. This amp weighs over 132lbs! It is very conservatively rated and is bridgeable down to 2 ohms stable! I suspect it will pump out nearly 500wpc into 4 ohms and even more bridged. As for pre/pro, Denon flagships have for the past few years been...

    EMP Speakers

RBH recently had a price increase so the TK-5CTs retail for $950/pair. The audioholics e-store is offering virtually the identical speaker for $854/pair with FREE shipping! There simply isn't enough margin in these products to go lower in price. That being said, if you can get the RBH...

    Emotiva XPA-2 Stereo Power Amplifier

Ok here is some basic info on how capacitors add: In Series: 1/Ceq = 1/C1 + 1/C2 + .... 1/Cn In Parallel: Ceq = C1 + C2 + C3 +....Cn It is ALWAYS preferred to wire caps in parallel so the effective capacitance is additive and the ESR (effective series resistance) is lowered. Where...

    Emotiva XPA-2 Stereo Power Amplifier

You don't want the prototype pictured in the first look. It has 12 50V 10,000uF caps which the only possible way that could work with their rated power is if all the caps are in series. This would yield an effective capacitance of only 30,000uF. I say lets wait it out and see what they do.

    Emotiva XPA-2 Stereo Power Amplifier

No the Emotiva website is wrong. They are anticipating about 60,000uF for the XPA-2. Not sure about the XPA-5 but I doubt it would be much more.

    RX-V861 bi-amping question

Than your understanding of electronics is very limited. Biwiring is NOT electrically equivalent to passive bi-amping even if the amps are all run on the same power supply. You are still providing an easier load to each amp by passive biamping and there are still isolation benefits even without...

EMP adds RBH TK Series Products to Audioholics Store

Friends; I wanted to let you know that we had RBH Sound add their TK Series products to our online store. The only difference between the TK series and the EMP versions is the latter don't have the piano gloss tops and use a poly graphite impregnated cone woofer instead of fiberglass. The...

    RX-V861 bi-amping question

the benefits of biamping would be more noticeable on speakers that actually have dedicated bass units like the RBH 1266-SE for example. Most definately I'd opt for doing full 7.1 over using the extra 2 channels for bi-amping.
